Switzerland - Trift Bridge Adventure
Planning the Sunday Excursion
I was just hearing the Switzerland weather forecast in the radio as i took a cup of coffee, sitting in our dining room.
It was about 9:00 a.m. in the morning, i was alone in the house with my dog Benda.
I pulled the curtains to the side of the broad glas door and sat down in my favorite bamboo rocking chair as i looked outside enjoying and admiring the beautiful colorful flowers in my garden and the bright green grass.
My cooffee was good. I always took a big cup with 2 portions of coffee with a little milk and 2 teaspoon of sugar.
I was thinking about an excursion with my family upon hearing the warm sunny weather the whole week through..
I called my sister by phone and asked her about taking a family adventure together, hiking to the Trift Bridge.
The idea was perfect!! my sister invited us to come on Saturday and stay overnight so we could start our journey early in the morning. They live in Innertkirchen and their house is just 10 minutes ride to the Station Triftbahn "Underi Trift".
I discussed the excursion to the hanging bridge with my family that night and it turned out to be an interesting idea to spend a nice weekend together.

We arrived at about 16: pm in Innertkirchen, made a stop over in Interlaken and took a short walk along the river for Benda to make her business, It was a nice enjoyable walk, lots of dogs, people and children around.
My sister and her family have a chalet wooden house, a typical Swiss house with a big veranda, lots of hanging geranium flowers. The garden is cozy with a fire basket lawn chairs, nice romantic garden, furnitures with flowers and plants around.
We ate grill of meat, chicken, vegetables, green mix salad, tomato mozarella salad, dessert, etc.
It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day, making grill in the garden, talking, playing cards and laughing together with the family.
We did not stay late that night for we have to wake up early the next morning.

We arrived at the Triftbahn station at about 9:00 a.m,, from "Nessental, Triftbahn", continued to Triftbahn cablecar. It is better to start earlier in the morning before 10:00 a.m. to avoid long waiting hours on a long line of people. The station could also be reached with a Bus from Meiringen directing Sustenpass to "Nessental, Triftbahn", to Triftbahn (cable car).
The technical requirements, hiking difficulty, and physical fitness ability is mild.
The hiking per way is 2.8 kilometers, about 1 1/2 hours. For beginners it would take almost 2 hours.
The ideal months for hiking is from June to Oktober.
On our way we made a break for our breakfast picnic. We sat down on the rocks and enjoyed the mild sunrays. We had bread, salami, ham, mountain cheese, fruits, enough beverages.
After the breakfast, we continued our hiking with beautiful alpine sceneries. Lots of alpine plants, flowers, waterfalls along the way reaching the hanging bridge at noontime.
We admire the spectacular view of the footbridge, the glacier, the lake and mountains. Stepping and walking through the footbridge is amazing and breath taking looking down the deep distance to the top.
During the warm climate, the Triffglaciers are melting. One can see the alpine club Triftchalet, A few years ago one could reach the hut by walking through the glacier tongue. The banging bridge was built on the model of the Nepalese three rope bridges in 2004 because the Glacier is no longer sufficiently high enough. In 2009, the Triftbrücke became a tourist attraction and was renovated to make it safer and accessible bridge. Triftbrücke is one of the longest and highest pedestrian suspension bridge in the Alps.
There are 2 hiking ways to choose. One is shorter and very slanting, the other is good for the beginners, a bit longer but more comfortable and not so exhausting, At the beginning, after the starting point , the hiking passage is exhausting going and climbing up, the rest is pleasant. The way back is easier going down.
It was a nice hiking adventure, one has to be in good condition to walk.
