Trip to Kerala : Golden Peak Ponmudi

I am aiming to portray one of my favorite places in Kerala. It is basically a hill station. If you're curious about trekking and looking for a spot in Kerala, then Ponmudi is the finest spot. It can be a good city elude. Ponmudi is a hill station which situated around 60 KM away from Trivandrum, Kerala, India. Ponmudi trip is one of the best ways to spend time whereas going to Trivandrum city. You'll appreciate a long drive up the winding hills for a view within the brilliant crest of the city. This slope station known as the local Ooty of Trivandrum and arranged at a tallness of about 3000 feet from the ocean level. On the slope beat with mist and breezy climate unquestionably make an ever paramount encounter. And there are nearly 22 hairpin twists on the way to the beat of the slopes. There are numerous areas close to Ponmudi slopes such as Kallar and Meenmutty waterfalls those are too must observe traveler spots

Ponmudi hills (Detailed view):

Ponmudi top is a portion of the Western Ghats Mountain extends that runs parallel to the sea “Arabian”. Ponmudi is called Kashmir of Kerala and it is a popular destination in South India. It is a well-known spot for hiking and trekking. Ponmudi is located in Kerala (India) in Nedumangad Taluk, Thiruvananthapuram. The tallest top within the Ponmudi Mountain extend known as “Varayadumotta”. The name of Varayadumotta” comes from Nilgiri Tahr (In Kerala, it is known as Varayadu). The local occupants, the “Kani tribes”( Kani is a group of people living within the Western Ghats region of Kerala, India) have their possess definition on how Ponmudi got its title. They accept the divine beings shielding the mountains hid their gold within the crest of the hills subsequently giving it the title “Ponmudi”. According to the historian’s perspective, the name originated from the names of the gods of Buddhists and Jains, who lived in the place Centuries ago

Waterfalls(Kallar and Meenmutty):

Kallar is one of the foremost lovely waterways one might see in Kerala. Kallar and Meenmutty waterfalls are on the way to Ponmudi. In case you carry a backup dress and towel in hand as you may get a chance to swim and bath in Kallar River, there's a place you'll be able to change dress as well. Meenmutty trekking starts from Kallar waterway and you need to trek around 3 km to reach the waterfall. Indeed in summer, the waterfall and thick forest will be there in its fullest view. In case you're fortunate, you'll be able to see the Kerala state bird “Horn bill” on the way to Kallar.

Where to stay?

The only place open to tourists is the KTDC-run Golden peak hill resort. Golden Peak resort has 14 cottages in three categories. Deluxe, Premium and Suite. An evening check-in is the best opinion which offers a view of the scenic beauty around. Private hotels and resorts are not permitted to set up shops there

How to reach Ponmudi?

1. Train: The nearest railway station to Ponmudi is the Trivandrum Central railway station. It is about 61 km away from Ponmudi.

2. By Air: Trivandrum International Airport is the nearest airport which is located at a distance of 65 km from Ponmudi

3. Road: There are buses which take tourists up. The KSRTC runs its Venad trips regularly from Thiruvananthapuram to Ponmudi.
