Pictures of Eastern Canada, London, Paris and The Bahamas

Updated on July 23, 2009

London, Paris, Eastern Canada, The Bahamas

Going on vacation is very exciting because that usually mean travelling to some place new whether close to home or far away. I can recall my childhood excitement about going to visit my grandmother who lived in the country. I remember one summer our family went by car to a tourist resort, for a one week vacation by the beach. My siblings and I were up all night talking about what it will be like. We could not sleep that night. I can remember the feeling of butterflies in my stomach as we drove along the coastline, the wind kissing our face, reggae music thumping through the speakers and the sight of endless turquoise beaches with white sand. That was the happiest week of my life.

When I was a single mother raising a daughter on very limited funds, I used creative means to go on vacation, even if it was on a dime. During those days we would visit relatives or friends who live in the USA or other parts of Canada by train, bus or plane. For instance, we visited several of my college friends and relatives in Texas, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, Michigan, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Nevada, DC, Massachusetts and Ohio. You have to be willing to reciprocate when you visit friends abroad. I looked forward to have my friends visit me as I feel like I am on vacation with them while showing them places of interest in my city.

In recent years, I have travelled with my family to a few countries also within Canada. We plan for several months before going on a vacation. We consider such things as mode of travel, whether we are driving or flying. We usually shop on line for the most affordable ticket and accommodations. I have also purchased a vacation club membership, which gives discounts on flight, accommodations ( 4 star for 2 star price), car rental, dining, and recreational activities, such as golfing or sight seeing. There are many scams around, so buying a vacation membership should be well researched.

For this hub, I hope that you will enjoy some of the pictures from my last three vacations: In 2006 we did a road trip to Eastern Canada and North-eastern USA; 2007 we visited London, England and Paris, France; 2008 we visited Paradise Island in The Bahamas.
