Visiting Cebu Island

Updated on February 28, 2016

The Philippines is a beautiful country located in South East Asia. The country itself is comprised of numerous islands, and the main language there is Filipino.

Why not visit Cebu Island?

Cebu Island is the most luxurious and most beautiful of all the islands in the Philippines. Not only that, but is also the most affluent of the islands and therefore regarded as the ultimate location to head to when you visit the Philippines. In terms of size it is also the largest and is actually the main island of the county.

Thankfully it is extremely easy to get to via all major airlines due to the fact that the island has an extensive airport so you can rest assured that your trip will go off without a hitch. The Matcan-Cebu airport is the second largest airport in the Philippines. The benefit of this is that it is fully equipped to transport you internationally, as well as being able to fly to the smaller island in smaller planes in the Philippines.

Things to do

There are a lot tourist options for those that are wanting to see everything Cebu has to offer. For those that prefer the excitement of being in the city, a great excursion is the Sky Experience Adventure. It offers two main attractions (although others are also available), both of which are highly exhilarating. The first is a Skywalk (nothing to do with Star Wars I should add!) which allows you to walk around the outskirts of the Crown Regency Hotel.

As you could imagine though, this is no simple walk. Rather, the walk takes places 127 metres above street level as you transverse around the building underneath a glass floor. Of course, you are securely harnessed in. A personal recommendation is to undertake this take in the morning as well as at night. By doing so, you are able to get a completely different feel Cebu City and it really is an experience that you have to feel first hands. Photos simply do not do this justice and after you’ve done it once, you’ll be left wanting to do it again.

Another similar attraction a rollercoaster built right into the edges of the Crown Regency Hotel. At 37 floors up, it’s one of the tallest rollercoasters in the world and will give you some seriously amazing views of Cebu City. For the extra ‘feat factor’, the seats are tilted forward at an angle of 55 degrees so that you are literally facing the ground below whilst still being able to take in the immersive skyline of Cebu City.

Places to stay

Cebu Island has a wealth of different hotels and hostels for you to live in whilst staying on the island. These range from cheaper and smaller rooms for couples and single people. However, it is also possible to book into a beach resort if you are more interested in staying right on the waterfront.

Surprisingly, staying at a beach resort is a lot cheaper than you might think. For a double bedroom in the Pacific Resort, prices are as low as £35 per night which considering the location and also the amenities of the resort, this is extremely good value for money. Depending on the resort of your choice, this price per room could increase to £150 per night.

However, this is still extremely cheap and when you compare it to other destinations across the world like the London in the UK and New York in the United States, this really is a bargain. For those that want to stay in the most luxurious hotel in Cebu Island, the Shangri-La Resort is available for just over £200 per night which is for the Panorama Suite. Whilst it is expensive, it is surely worth it and it’ll really be a holiday for you to remember!

The tip of the iceberg

The information in this hub is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Cebu Island. There are a wealth of things you are able to do during your visit there and it isn’t possible to document all of it in this Hub. This alone should tell you that Cebu is an excellent location for your next holiday and should be considered when the time comes for your next trip abroad.
