What makes Tenerife apartments so popular with holiday-makers in the Canary Islands?

Updated on February 20, 2016

Why Tenerife?

Tenerife in the Canary Islands is a very popular destination for thousands of holiday-makers each year and one of the main reasons is the fantastic weather its subtropical climate can offer. The island also has any number of wonderful sandy beaches and several well known tourist resorts as well.

The main ones are Los Cristianos and Playa de la Américas in the warm and sunny south of the island.

Tenerife also has plenty of spectacular countryside with mountains and forests that offer incredible picturesque locations to visit, making the island a firm favourite with film-makers and television production crews as well as professional and amateur photographers.

Holiday apartments in Tenerife

Of course any visitors to the island will need somewhere to stay and fortunately the resorts offer plenty of Tenerife accommodation to choose from. Besides hotels there are apartment-hotels and apartment blocks, and these are where many tourists choose to stay after they have booked self-catering holidays on the island. Tenerife apartments can be short-term or long lets for those people who want to stay longer.

Apartments in Tenerife are ideal for holidays for many reasons. The Tenerife apartment blocks are all situated within easy walking distance of the beach and shops, and many apartment complexes have their own swimming pool for the use of residents as well.

Tenerife tourist resorts

Most of the Tenerife resorts are in the south of the island because of the warmer and sunnier weather there and for ease of getting to and from the airport. Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas are right next to one another and tourist developments and attractions continue around the south coast in both directions.

Further up the south-west coastline are Alcalá, Playa de San Juan and Los Gigantes, and these resorts all attract a lot of tourists too. Los Gigantes takes its name from its massive cliffs, which are the "Giants" of its name.

It is not only Tenerife South though that has the resorts because up in the north of the island, again on the western side, there is Puerto de la Cruz. It is commonly known as simply "Puerto" and is very popular with tourists for a number of reasons. Puerto de la Cruz has a number of beaches, the Loro Parque Parrot Park, and the El Botánico botanical gardens among its very many attractions.

It is easy to travel around Tenerife on the green Titsa buses and these run from both the island's airports. Tourists who book apartments in the north or south will find it easy enough to get to and from where they are staying.

Very many visitors to Tenerife have such a wonderful time they come back to the island for future holidays and this is hardly surprising.
