Making our Historic Inn Sustainable
it was "the workd of mouth"....the web, the MEDIA, then the Social media
When my husband and I took over the HIstoric Inn we now own, we vowed to make it a greener establishment.
The first artice about the property was writen by an out of state publisher.
Little by little we decided to aproach bigger projects and early this year we started remodeling the bathrooms of the hotel and with that was a big "GREEN" approach where we can make a difference in how this building operates.
After the 1 pane glass windows were replaced with an energy star efficiency product we felt a little more comfortable with what we had to pay for the energy. Spring time came and we started on the PHASE I. - bathrooms remodel, which we call it - justifyable - the "DESIGNER MAKE OVER"
This move put us up on a different scale, I could feel it, hear it and see it in all directions. I am refering to people bloging about our place and the review we get lately.
Then we picked up more media attention after finishing the East Wing this past spring, before the busy season started here.
- This time was a local print, that was having a special month theme - Sustainability in the valley: "Voice" - September Issue of 2008
- ABC local TV news had our property featured in a segment on "Down to Earth" with Carl Agnelli, aired on October 7 2008
- We had the editor of the local news paper "Home News", come by and I interviewed for a half page article printed in November 5th, 2008
- after an evaluation on line with eco-friendly web we received an e-mail where we were informed of a nomination Spring Green's The Usonian Inn Awarded the Prestigious Green Eco-Leaf Rating

We are always thinking to reinvent ourselves and develop our business to make it more attractive. We deffinitely need more business for winter season.
After all the hard work paid off. We are getting more attention and all these publicity helped us to make a name for ourselves in the community.
