Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square

Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square

This moderately sized but quite elegant hotel is nestled into the heart of Cleveland’s Playhouse Square district, immediately opposite Star Plaza, at the irregular intersection of Huron Road, East 14th Street, East 18th Street and Euclid Avenue.

The Wyndham Cleveland’s recently renovated 14 floors offer 205 guest rooms and suites, including some charmingly configured to tuck into the hotel’s tall rotunda form at its eastern terminus overlooking Star Plaza. Meeting rooms, sauna, health & fitness amenities, a lap pool, a business center, and a satisfying restaurant and bar are also available on site.

The hotel is within several blocks walking distance of all of Playhouse Square’s five active theaters, and is a similar distance from both Progressive Field (formerly Jacobs Field), Home of The Cleveland Indians, and the Quicken Loans Arena (formerly Gund Arena), current residence of LeBron James, Shaquille O‘Neal and the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

It is but a short ride to other great Cleveland sites, like Cleveland Browns Stadium, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, The Great Lakes Science Center, and the many cultural and entertainment venues of University Circle. The newly revamped Euclid Corridor offers convenient bus service at the hotel’s front door to Public Square to the west, and to University Circle and The Cleveland Clinic to the east.

Because of its prime location, The Wyndham Cleveland annually does the bulk of its business with theatergoers and Clinic visitors. The hotel’s ownership by The Playhouse Square Foundation insures that the two entities marketing programs are in sync.

In 2001, in an aim to further energize and enhance the Playhouse Square district, The Playhouse Square Foundation enlisted ZZ Design to create Times-Square-style lighting and super-signage for the district. ZZ Design placed large full-color animated LED videoboards on both The Wyndham Cleveland and The Hanna Building along with color-changing neon and a ‘news ticker’ readerboard that streams across the Hanna Building’s fascia.

The Playhouse shows can be great — Wicked or The Nutcracker or any big Broadway hit are pretty sure bets. I'm based southeast of Cleveland, in Solon. Good to have you as a viewer.

My good friend and neighbor goes to the Playhouse regularly. One day I may join her. We must be almost neighbors as I am not far from there.
