Yes you can afford to go to Hawaii!
Oahu Collage
Oahu The Island full of fun!
"Mindy, I REALLY want to go to Hawaii, I'm not getting any younger and its on my bucket list". (she starts to get broken up a bit while shes telling me) " I only have about 1,000.00 to spend and I want all three of you girls to go with me". "wow mom, that sounds like fun, lets do it! I will help make it happen for you mom, don't worry." I nervously reply. How could I turn down my mother? My husband recently was laid off on Fridays, My sisters and I all have wanted to go but we were all flat broke too. So we started saving and I started selling stuff on craigslist, I even offered to deliver items, it worked really well. I sold all kinds of junk in the "back room" its like our storage back there. My sister Ramona pitched in for all of us and told us we could pay her back for some of the money. But she had to gracefully bow out because she was to have neck surgery. It was disappointing to not have my baby sister go with us. I started looking online at many travel companies for deals to Hawaii and Travelocity had the best deal to Oahu, a package deal, it was only 435.00 per person that included airfare and hotel room for 6 days 5 nights! We stayed at Hokele Suites it was nice and clean. Staff friendly and helpful (plenty of towels) They rent beach mats and stuff for you too. We went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, and took in a Luau. We decided to use the trolley system and bus system too. It was a big step out of our comfort box ,but I did some research and it was better than renting a car, the trolley was fun! We walked to the beach it was so nice! just remember not to sunbathe from 12-2pm.
In the evening everyone's out on the town it is way happening! Mainly because midday's are very hot, so you will want to stay out of the sun from 12-2pm. We saved money by sleeping in one room and there were 4 of us and 2 beds. We really didn't sleep much honestly! We didn't get back to the room until about 4 am most nights. The clubs are so fun! Dukes Barefoot Bar is a really nice atmosphere and on the beach! Hulas Bar and Lei Stand http://www.hulas.com/ is a must for dancing, it's a gay bar but, everyone goes there. You can hear the clubs "thump and bum-pin" all down Kalakaua Ave. What could be better? The beautiful beaches lined with great food dancing and drinks. On Oahu it isn't just party town, they also have all kinds of family fun things to do, Its not well known, but Jurassic park was filmed there, they have tours for that also. If you are shopaholic this place is for you! My goodness, they have so many designer stores and even a Ferrari store! They also have the world market downtown its really neat to meet the Hawaiians and buy their hand made goods this was one of my favorite places, I had such a great time in Oahu and I would recommend it to anyone contemplating going. So start planning and take a trip to Oahu!!!
