The great thing about this Art Competition is that it is held within a few square miles in downtown Grand Rapids. Where is Grand Rapids? Grand Rapids is in the great State of Michigan. This years competition is being held from September 19th, 2012 to October 7th, 2012. The name ArtPrize should also tell you that there are prizes involved. This years total prize money is $560,000.

My Favorite Exhibit in 2012

Horses in the Grand River

The Grand River runs through downtown Grand Rapids with a walk-way along the river and many of the exhibits are along this walk-way. A great way to see many of the ArtPrize entries. We went on a beautiful Fall day and it was wonderful to see all the people enjoying all the exhibits and food vendors along the way if you needed something cool to drink or a snack to munch on as you strolled along.

For 2012 there are 1,517 entries within 161 venues all within a 3 square mile radius.

This entry was one of my favorites and the horses are made out of sticks and placed in the water...
