My Trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon
Long Sandy Beach with Beautiful Haystack Rock
My husband and I took a Spring trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon. We spent a couple of nights at Tolovana Inn, which is right on the beach, just south of Haystack Rock. As soon as we got there, we ate fish and chips at Mo's Restaurant and walked along the beach to Haystack Rock. It was dreamy and so wonderful! It was before the tourist season and still a bit cold and rainy, but that just made it extra special.
I can't wait to go back and visit again! The only thing I regret is that I forgot to bring my hat! I'd love to go again when the tide is lower so I could see the sea creatures in the tide pools. I wouldn't mind going during the stormy season either! I love watching storms!

View of Haystack Rock from Tolovana Inn - Just South of Cannon Beach
The beach is big and sandy, with rock monoliths in both directions.
This picture was taken on our first day. That's Tolovana Inn. It's right on the beach. We walked the nearly 2 miles down to Haystack Rock.
Our stay at Tolovana Inn was fine. We got a bargain price and a small room, but it was quiet and close to the beach. The staff were friendly and we didn't have any problems.

Ecola State Park, near Cannon Beach, Oregon - a great place to get an Eagle's view of the coastline
We had to pay a small entry fee to visit Ecola State Park, and then drive up a steep and windy road. Finally we got to a parking lot near this great overlook area. The view was amazing! Here's a picture of just one part of it.

Quiz Answer is
The Needles
I'm not sure if this is the origin of the names for these monoliths, but it always makes me ask:
"Can you find the Needle in the Haystack?"
