Hodgson Mill, Ozark County, Missouri; our recent visit
A very popular Mill in Ozarks Country - do you use their flour, from your store?
My wife, Nancy, my daughter, Allision, and I recently toured five of the really neat mills in Ozark County, a few miles east of our home here in the Southern Missouri Ozarks. This mill is one we had really want to visit for some time, and we were not disappointed. We'd like to go back this weekend! ;-)
This mill is the most 'intact' of the five we visited. It is still in the same position and many of the mechanics are still in place, though in is no longer a working mill. See some of the photos of these elements as you move through this lens. The 'Hodgson Mill' floor and other products are now manufactured in a modern mill in in nearby Gainesville, Missouri.
Allison and I both took a number of photos on our tour. Each photo appearing in this lens was taken from that pool of photos.

The Gift Shop
The Mill is now a well conceived and maintained tourist attraction including a fine gift shop of locally produced arts and crafts interspersed with the working parts of the mill. Here we see the bin where the grain was place to go down in to the mill to be ground - along with some craft items!

Mechanics of the Mill
There are several locations throughout the building where various interesting aspects of the history of the mill are visible. This one shows come the mechanics still in place. Another is the door that leads into the area where the spring that feeds nearly 3,000,000 gallons of clear, cold water a day into the pond and stream below is located (not open to the public, of course).
