Lady Bower Reservoir- Pug Holes.
Early on this year (2012), me and my partner Jason decided to take a day trip to Lady Bower Reservoir high in the peak district near sheffield.
We had herd of the mysterious Plug Holes but had no idea what they were, so we drove up there early on a saturday morning to see what was lurking up at Lady Bower Reservoir. It took a while to find but once we found them we were both amazed. These fasinating creations were built to slowly stream water out of the damn. They work by letting water flow over the top of them and then down into a chamber where the water flows into a stream.
The plug holes are amazing, they seem quite small when first aproaching them but as soon as you get closer, the sheer size of them is astounding! There are two plug holes located near each side of the damn to ensure an even flow of water.
The sights up at Lady Bower are amazing, on a warm summers day you can relax with a picknick besides there various damns and enjoy nature in your own way. There are walking trails located near the damns and they hold some amazing views.
Its a great place to relax or bring the family for a day out in nature, there are various B&B's around so if you wanted to make a weekend of it, you could! Also on the lake they have boats where you can take a trip around the damns and see the amazing views for all different angles.
I have added some picture that i have taken my self to give everyone an idea on what it is like, so if you decide to take a trip up there you can have a bit of an idea what your getting yourselfs into...
Thankyou for reading and enjoying the pictures.
