Missouri Wine Country
A Fall Tour of Missouri Wine Country
I really enjoy seeing the beautiful fall colors in Missouri.
I have spent many years traveling to various parts of the country to enjoy their fall foliage, but I will have to tell you that this year I have seen some of the most beautiful colors right in my home state.
We live about ten miles from the start of Missouri wine country, so on a beautiful October afternoon my husband and I got in the car and headed down the road to photograph the fall colors. There were so many beautiful scenes that I was able to capture many wonderful shots.
We took some time to stop by the Katy trail for some photographs and then proceeded to the various wineries to take advantage of their spectacular hilltop views!
So, sit back and relax and enjoy the beauty that is Missouri Wine Country!

View from Sugar Creek Winery
Sugar Creek winery is one of our favorite wineries to visit. They have lots of casual seating along the hillside and often bring in bands to entertain during summer and early fall weekends. It is a great way to sit among friends and enjoy their tasty wine along with some cheese and crackers.

Traveling through the wine country is a colorful sight in the fall. Beautiful hues of yellow, gold and orange line the roadsides.

Katy Trail State Park - a great place for a hike or bike ride
The Katy Trail state park is a wonderful recreation path for bicycling and hiking. it was built on the former corridor of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, which was called the Katy Railroad. When this railroad quit operations in the 1980's the opportunity open up to use the corridor for a recreation area that runs nearly 200 miles across the state of Missouri.
I have been on several sections of the Katy trail over the years and it is wonderful! These photos show a small portion of the trail that runs near the Missouri river and also wind through Missouri wine country.
Looking down the Katy Trail
This photo was taken on a weekday. On a beautiful fall weekend it would be hard to take a photo without hikers and bicyclists in the photo. Walking and biking along the trail is a popular pass time.

Brilliant Red Tree
This bright red tree was standing alone alongside the tree. I thought it was a striking color.
Other trees are shades of orange and gold.
