Alright! Now upon visiting Albay, it will not sound great if you will return back home empty-handed, right? But don’t you worry. There’s a famous one-stop shop in Albay that offers exciting food souvenirs!

Albay is very popular for two main things when it comes to food. The first one is the Pili nuts, and the second one is the Pinangat (a spicy vegetable dish or add-on drenched in coconut milk). Fortunately, both of these are available here in Albay Pilinut Food Souvenir Shop!

#6 DJC and its Special Halo-Halo

Halo-Halo is a traditional Filipino dessert favorite! Being in a tropical country, Filipinos love to have something cold, and since most of us have sweet tooth, the Halo-Halo came into existence!

Although other countries have their own version of a Halo-Halo, Philippines offer something distinct because of the ingredients included in the dessert. The basic ones are crushed ice, condensed milk, leche flan, macapuno and saba. Since Filipinos love to innovate on this dessert, several variations arose and may include pinipig, ube, ice cream, sago, gulaman and cheese among others.

Here in Albay, Philippines, particularly in Legazpi, there is one place very known for a special Halo-Halo! It goes by the name DJC. Here in this humble restaurant, you will meet a playfully rich Halo-Halo that will really make the moment highly memorable. You should really try this out!

#5 The First Colonial Grill Restaurant - Home of the Sili (Chili Pepper) Ice Cream!

Why visit this place?

If you are looking for something extra unique when you travel here in Albay, you should not let the opportunity slip away by not dining here in the First Colonial Grill. Aside from the Filipino cuisine dishes, you will find the unusual ice cream flavor of Chili Pepper or "Sili" here in this restaurant.

Ask the locals, and they will verify this one. Plus, the ice cream was already featured in a show in a local channel here in the Philippines. Hence, you should really check this out!

Sights to Behold

Here are the four highlights for places you should definitely see!

#4 Lignon Hill - One Stop where you can do a lot!

In case you are traveling in Albay for just a short stop, I suggest that you include Lignon Hill in your itinerary, because you will achieve a lot of things already when you visit this place.

Seeing the Mt. Mayon

Although the Mt. Mayon is visible almost everywhere in Albay, Lignon Hill just gives you a nice spot to be bewildered by the charm of the volcano.

Activities to Enjoy

If you are in for some adventurous activities, look no more because Lignon Hill will be there to help you out. You may enjoy some ATV ride, rappelling and ziplining to name a few.

#3 Cagsawa Ruins - The remnants of a buried church

Now here is something interesting - the Cagsawa Ruins! In this place was once a huge church; however, due to the ravages of the volcano, the church got buried under a lava. Hence, the only thing that remained was the topmost portion of the church which includes the upper part of the bell tower.

This is already a certified tourist spot location because of the magnificent scenery and of course the historical significance of the ruins. Oh, in Cagsawa Ruins, you will also get a nice view of the Mt. Mayon.

#2 The Misibis Bay Resort - An exclusive place to stay

Just in case you are looking for something exclusive, you may want to choose Misibis Bay as your destination. It is a 2 to 3 hour ride away from the airport, but everything will be worth it because of the fine development of the place.

Some of the highlights you will find interesting in the resort are the bay side itself (i.e. the beach), the refreshing pools, the water sport activities and of course the cozy rooms!

#1 The Mayon Volcano

Last but definitely not the least is the Mayon Volcano itself. Depending on the activity level of the volcano, tourists may get as close to the lava front of the volcano. This will give you a really jaw-dropping view of the volcano itself. Plus, you will enjoy the adventure of some hiking and climbing.

However, what you need to note is that you can only reach the lava front by riding an ATV. Well, I think this is not a bad thing because the ATV ride there is definitely something to remember!

There you go! I hope you enjoyed reading through the Top 5 destinations in Albay, Philippines!

I've always wanted to visit the Philippines - I've heard the people are very friendly and (rightly) proud of their cultural heritage, and the scenery is amazing. More like this for the armchair traveller, please!
