Vacation Heaven

Vero Beach, Florida is a small community of friendly people blessed with beautiful beaches, great parks and lots of recreation centers. All in all a wonderful vacation location.

Vero Beach is about 135 miles North of Miami and 190 miles South of Jacksonville with a population of approximately 18,160 people.

Vero Beach is also known as the "Gateway to the Tropics." Vero Beach climate offers ancient oak trees and pine forests along with big, beautiful palm trees and plants found in the tropics. Also know as the "Citrus Capital of the World", producing delicious Indian River Citrus.

The city is divided by the Indian River Lagoon with the mainland on one side and the oceanfront barrier island on the other. With restrictions to high rise development the city maintains its residential atmosphere giving the feeling of a welcoming little town.

The beaches in Vero Beach are part of Florida's Treasure Coast with beautiful sands and rolling waves. South Beach, the main public beach, has volleyball courts, space to play other sports and it includes pavillions, barbecues and restrooms. Other beaches include Humiston Park, Jaycee Park and Conn Beach. Not to mention the resorts with their own beach fronts.

Disney Resort at Vero Beach

We, my family and I, vacationed at one of the Disney Resorts located in Vero Beach, Florida. They have several but the one in Vero Beach is my favorite. It was spectacular. Giving you the best of both worlds when it comes to water. You could choose to go to the beach and play in the waves or lounge around the big, spacious pool area with the monstrous slide.

You are close to the shops in downtown Vero Beach. Shop til you drop is my motto. They have everything from specialty shops to a huge Walmart. No matter if you needed anything or not you are sure to find something you just can't resist. So, don't pack everything you need because you are sure to find a great sun dress or tank top.

We spent most of our days at the beach. The children wanted to look for shells and if you got real lucky you could find some. We built sand castles, strolled the beaches and body surfed. What a wonderful way to spend the day.

Beach Towel

It's always nice to have a big beach towel when at the beach. Something to lay on in the sand and to wrap around you when out of the water.

It's all about Mickey

When you are at a Disney property it is all about Mickey. Mickey signs are everywhere. The hands on the elevator or the butter on the table. It is all about Mickey.

The Vero Beach Disney Resort is just beautiful. We happened to be there during the Christmas Holiday and everything was decorated in grand style. From the very big Christmas tree in the lobby to all the lights in the trees surrounding the resort. I'm telling you, you just have to see it for yourself. It is jawdropping gorgeous.

Our room had a beautiful balcony from which we could watch the sunsets at night and even watched a wedding ceremony at twilight. It was also a favorite spot for a cup of coffee in the morning.

The Vero Beach Disney Resort had several restaurants plus a place at poolside where you could order hamburgs, hot dogs and much more. You could also get any beverage of your choice. My grandchildren also thought the gift shop was pretty cool. Of course, Mickey and Minnie were displayed in all there glory.
