Hello everybody

Hi, my name's Nick Vasey. For the last few years I have been a resident ex-pat in a small but somewhat famous town in Southern Ecuador called Vilcabamba. I have a real-estate consultancy here called the Vilcabamba Real Estate Company (or VREC Properties).

For those of you who don't know, Vilcabamba is pretty much as paradisiacal as you can

get. We are at an altitude of 5000 feet, on the equator. What that translates to is a "perpetual

spring" climate, which means that everything just keeps GROWING here... all year round!

Vilcabamba has pristine mountain air, fully charged with the negative ions so important to

good health. We have crystal-clear water descending from the high mountain sources within

the Podocarpus National Park.

In combination with diet and lifestyle, the special blend of minerals and chelating compounds in this water is said to contribute to the famed longevity of the residents here: Vilcabamba is well known as the Valley of Longevity. A HUGE assortment of organic fruit and vegetables grow in abundance here... grow your own or buy cheaply at the local market. The valley is also ideal for hiking, horse-tours, exploring, swimming in the rivers or just chilling out in a naturally beautiful environment.

Unsurprisingly, due to the availability of many beautiful Vilcabamba properties, we

have now become a hot-spot on the "Gringo Trail." We have an increasing number

of "downshifters" looking to leave behind the hassle, clamour and stress of the "first world"

in favour of a simpler, cleaner, more slow-paced life, closer to and in balance with nature.

These people are of all ages and are coming from developed countries all over the world.

Many of these new residents have simply decided they would prefer to focus on the positive.

It might be with respect to the many and varied community projects they may be involved

with here... or simply on the improvements in their health... or on their spiritual evolution

in a place where they are similarly surrounded by folks operating on a somewhat higher

vibration.

Vilcabamba now has something known as critical mass, which means that it is generating its

own magnetic attraction for new people. The people, and the atmosphere created by those

people here, is now undeniably speaking to many many others around the world who are

looking for alternatives to their current reality.

Whether it be via emails, in blogs, in chat-rooms or howsoever, talk of Vilcabamba's special

magic is spreading and as that ripple effect continues moving outwards and affecting the

ideas of new people, the consciousness of humanity is slowly but surely evolving to a

different place... a better place.
