Watch a new campus building grow at OTC

Updated on September 7, 2014

The Table Rock Campus arises from the earth in Hollister, MO

For the past six months I have been documenting the building of the Table Rock Campus of the Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC) on a magnificent piece of real estate just down the road from my cabin here in the Branson, Missouri, region. The town of Hollister voted to become part of the OTC district and is getting its own campus and building in exchange for school tax dollars. Good deal for all. The campus will be ready for students in the fall of 2013.

This lens is inspired by 2 Squidoo 'suggestions': Local Color and Best Travel Tips. This is sort of a twist on the 'staycation' theme that has become popular in recent years. Open your eyes to what is going on around you, in your own neighborhood, in your hometown, in a nearby community and/or in your region. I've provided links below to my Examiner.com articles earlier in the year.

All photos in this lens were taken by me personally.

This is the latest photo of the Campus Building as of 19 Dec 2012 - just like the billboard, only REAL! Classes start in the fall! ;-)

I took the photo today! ;-)

Voters in the Hollister School District approved the OTC tax in April 2010. Groundbreaking occurred in October 2011. Earth movement began in January 2012 after the old restaurant that had occupied the site for many years was finally removed and the site cleared. See the Examiner.com articles for more details.

Community Colleges today - They play a vital role for young people today

Would you consider a Community College for yourself or your children/grandchildren?

Let's look at the Table Rock Campus of OTC from across U.S. 65 to the east - This will be a great addition to our community!

As noted in the billboards above, this beautiful Table Rock Campus building will be striking sitting on this hill overlooking the Southtown Center across U.S. 65. The view in this photo is toward Table Rock Lake, over the hill. The upper floors will face the Lake on the far side.

This location is a few miles south of the Branson area on U.S. Highway 65 - this will be a major aesthetic as well as educational addition to the community.
