Hide Those Ugly Affiliate Links

Updated on November 12, 2009

How to hide an affiliate URL

Are you part of an affiliate network? Do you have an ugly link/URL ? If you do, you can easily mask the link and earn from it too. This will quikly run over some basics steps to cloak your URL. There are alot of services out there that you can use but only a few of them pay, and only one I have found pays well enough to use. These small URLs are great if you frequently link to other hubs or blog posts. The real success come with using them on sites like Facebook, Digg, Stumbleupon, and Twitter!

Lets run down a few pros and cons of using certain link services.

Tinyurl.com

This site has probably been around the longest. Its the easiest to use, and you can even create a "Custom Alias".

Using the standard link http://tinyurl.com/yfjbpsy

Using the Custom Alias tool http://tinyurl.com/GreatArticles

Positive: Its easy to use and quick to set up. You can choose your Custom Alias.

Negative: You don't get paid by them

Adjix.com

Its not so simple as tinyurl.com but its still pretty easy. Here You have 2 choices standard or really short URL. You can't customize the link. Their service does pay you to use them. It will display a small banner across the top of your screen with targeted ads that you can select.

Using the standard lURL http://adjix.com/mbbu

Using the really short URL http://ad.vu/mbbu

Positive: They pay $0.10 per 1000 views. Offer a really small url option. Allows you to view tracking stats for each link.

Negative: They only pay $0.10 per 1000 views. Slightly more complicated then tinyurl.com

Linkbee.com

Linkbee.com shrinks your links just like adjix. When a user clicks on your link they will see a banner/intro page with an advertisement for 10 seconds or so, where as Adjix the banner stays at the top of the page till the user leaves the site. They also pay you much better then adjix and has a friendly network. Always updating their programs to benefit the user. you can also become their affiliate. If any users clicks on your affiliate URL and decide to use Linkbee's service. You will earn a % of their impressions which generates you money. I checked out their blog and you can see many users actually post their earnings from paypal. Very cool option, you can even earn from your referrals 5 levels deep. That's some serious earning potential!

Using the extension feature http://linkbee.com/GreatArticles ( similar to the Custom Alias tool on tinyurl.com )

Positive: All the great tools of Adjix and tinyurl combined. They pay between $1.00-$1.50 per 1000 impressions for USA users. You can earn from referrals. Also track the stats of each link.

Negative: Its a little more complicated then adjix and tinyurl. You have to sign up ( its free )
