Work Online Teaching Classes: and Work from Home

If you have a skill, experience or qualifications, then you can work online teaching classes in your subject.

The work you can do will vary between writing your own courses and using a website to deliver these to your students, all the way through to teaching a degree online through any one of the top, reputable Universities across the world.  In the UK, the largest online University is the Open University, but every major and minor University now has degree courses and others available online - and they all need tutors to help the students.

The question you have to ask yourself is what are you able to teach.  For example, you will need to be qualified to teach a degree programme, but some organisations will just need you to have online teaching qualifications, or certificates, which you can either find out about for yourself, or they will actually pay for the online courses for you.

There are many courses you can teach online though that don't need any formal qualifications.  Some websites even let  you create your own courses - and they could be on any subjects, you could, for example, teach a course to brides who want to learn to ice their own wedding cake, or you might want to teach statistics for small businesses.

If you can get online teacher certification then your chances of finding work will be greatly enhanced.  If you aren't yet certified then don't let this stop you from tracking down ways to do online teaching until you're in a position to take the certification.

Gaining online teacher certification will increase your chances of getting work and will increase the amount you're paid for doing it.

Online tutoring tends to pay based on students who complete a class, rather than the number that sign up.  A lot of courses will be funded and the funding will only be gained by the college or company providing the courses if the students complete the course.

The role of an online tutor is therefore one not only of teaching and tutoring, but encouraging the students to excel.

An hourly rate for online tutoring is quite rare simply because of the way money is allocated.  A student who completes a course, or a module, is something that can be measured, it isn't possible for an institution to measure  how many hours it took you to achieve it.

Rates of pay will be good once you've found your niche and a good organisation, but any lower level work you undertake will be good experience to help you attain those higher ranking online teaching classes.
