Is your style a little unusual? No worries!

Hubbing with Personality

How to Write Hubs that Reflect Your Style

One of the complaints I hear frequently from Hubbers is that it can be very hard for writers with an unusual or flamboyant writing style to make any money on HubPages. Humor writing, satire, poetry, flash fiction, and other types of creative writing tend to do poorly in search engines (not because they aren't awesome, but because few people are actively Googling them or searching for them online). But it is possible to incorporate your style into search-friendly Hubs that are both informative and full of personality. Here are a few tips on how:

Give advice. Personal stories and family history may not catch many readers from search, but dad's cleaning tips or grandma's advice on dealing with jealous friends probably will. For example, you might try writing a Hub on "How to Deal With a Jealous Friend." Include your own story of the talk you had with grandma, then explain what she meant or why her advice was great, and finally, give readers suggestions on how to follow her advice in their own lives. By doing so, you're sharing grandma's wisdom, honoring her memory, and attracting and helping readers.

Provide explanations. Want your poetry or flash fiction to see more readership? Use your creative writing to educate others. Include your poems, stories, or the first chapter of your novel in a writing guide. "What is Flash Fiction: Flash Fiction Explained, With Examples" is more likely to get found by readers than "Memories of Piano Player: A Short Story." Readers may come for the explanation but end up staying for the art.

Blend! On HubPages, writers have the incredibly cool opportunity to create informative articles with heart and personality unlike those found anywhere else online. Tell readers why poetry is a healthy way to heal from the loss of a friend or family member. Include your own story and the poems you've written to commemorate your loved one. Give readers advice on how to be nice and well-liked by writing a satire Hub on "How to Be a Jerk." Explain math, science, and engineering concepts with tongue-in-cheek humor. Blend your knowledge with your special flair in a way that will both educate readers and capture their hearts.

I have noticed, over the years when visiting auction yards; that the primary target for the slaughter buyers is the geriatric horse. These horses are cast away’s old and decrepit and can be bought for as little as $10.00 and the
