Topic and Homepage Redesign

HubPages Gets a New Look

As of last week, we have implemented some major design changes to the HubPages homepage and Topic Pages. Here are the main differences you'll notice:

  • The main Topic Page is now the HubPages homepage, making it easier than ever for readers to easily find and browse Hubs.
  • All Topic Pages now offer three listing options for readers to view Hubs by (Latest, Best, and Hot).
  • Signed-in Hubbers will see a mixture of Forum posts, Questions, and Hubs, while signed-out readers will only see Hubs.

Check out Marina's Blog Post for the full list of changes. We hope you like the new look!

Update to HubPages Terms of Use

This week I'd also like to give everyone a heads up on an upcoming change to the HubPages Terms of Use. Here's a quick summary of the changes that will be applied:

  • The Affiliate IDs section was renamed to the Affiliate IDs Program.
  • The AdSense-only layout is undergoing some changes
  • Four ad units in this layout will run with the Hubber's publisher ID. This limit comes from Google AdSense —? as a large publisher, we are able to run four ads per page rather than the standard three.
  • There is a new clause that allows us to run unshared ads on AdSense-only layouts. This impacts less than 5% of Hubbers. It allows us to reduce the number of ad layouts we need to maintain and fosters a more consistent design from page to page.
  • In Section 2, we added definitions for Earning Page View and Earning Ad Impression.

These changes will go into effect Tuesday, September 8th, so many of you may wish to take some time to re-review the Terms of Use next month.
