Helpful Grammar Resources

Let's face it.. grammar isn't always the easiest. It's complicated, confusing, and at times, seemingly impossible. Luckily, many helpful resources are available online to help educate you on different grammar styles and questions.

Here are some of our favorite grammar resources!

  • American Psychological Association: The APA style guide is based on American psychology standards. APA will help you correctly format all types of writing! Go to their website and explore all of the different style guides. You are sure to learn a new thing or two.
  • Chicago Manual of Style: Chicago Manual of Style (also known as CMS) is the go-to guide for most book publishers. CMS doesn't make their book available online; however, they have a "but what about this instance that isn't in the printed guide" section available for online readers.
  • Grammar Girl: Grammar Girl is incredibly helpful, very accessible, and even quirky at times. Her blog offers a great guide to anyone looking for answers to any grammar-related questions that may arise.
  • Grammarly: Grammarly's Word Blog is an excellent resource for any grammar-related questions you might have. They present their information in succinct, straightforward, easy-to-read articles.
  • Purdue OWL: One of the more academically minded resources you're going to find, Purdue's Online Writing Lab is an invaluable resource for all of your editing and grammar needs.
  • Capitalize My Title: Capitalize My Title is a quick way to ensure that your title is capitalized according to APA guidelines. However, you may need to double-check the capitalization of important words and two- and three-letter verbs.

How to Use Callouts

Including callouts in your articles is a great way to highlight specific, important information. More specifically, they work great for quotes, asides, content-specific disclaimers, warnings, or interesting bits.

It's important to note that callouts do not serve as headers! However, callouts may only be used as subtitles in cases where they serve a simple purpose (e.g., "FAQS") in articles that feature rich H2s or H3s below.

How to Use the Callout Feature

  1. Head over to your article and find "Add content capsules" on the right-hand toolbar.
  2. Find the callout feature under the "Supplementary" section and add it to the article.
  3. Enter your interesting text into the appropriate capsule.
  4. Lastly, decide how you want your callout to appear. There are two options of "Colorbox," "Classic," or "Quote." Each looks a little different, so play around with it and pick which looks best to you!
  5.  Click "Save," and woohoo, you have a callout!
