What company is the largest employer in your town or county?
Corporate companies have dominated many small towns or counties. They are not known for good wages but they do provide jobs. There still are some places that have private non corporate employment. Which type is your largest employer?
There is an annual report required by local government to report the this. Sadly, often the media ignores it year after year. Even sadder yet is the majority of the employers are "service". And service typically means lower wages. The other type all too often is government and that means the taxpayer is the employer which is the saddest of all - personal opinion. I hope the manufacturing and the software sectors picks up as those historically have held the highest gains in wages.
Palomar Medical Center for Escondido, CA or the Hospital network at about 3,000. That is followed by the School District (Exclusive of High School), then the municipality, and next is the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Those that follow are 300 and less employees.
So is Palomar a private company or corporation?
It is a larger Medical (Group) corporation. They have two hospitals in town. Both have specialties as well general needs. The newest also serves as a Major Trauma Center for North San Diego County. There are 4 hospitals + 6? centers / facilities.
