My Journey From Hubpages To The Keyword Academy And Back Again

Updated on May 23, 2014

Journey Beginnings!!

So for those of you that don't know me, I have been writing on Hub pages for nearly four years now and have made some great friends as well as some very loyal followers. I have written a wide variety of hubs from Mixed martial arts to video games and also car mechanic hubs. After a couple of years I got slightly disillusioned with hub pages and wanted to branch out into websites, Not only do you receive all the money that you make from AdSense but you get lots more design input than you would from building hubs.

I had spoken to various people on the hub page forums and the wiser ones amongst them all said that if I was interested in building my own websites then perhaps I should give The Keyword Academy a try. I had not heard much about them so went off to have an explore of their site and learn what it was all about.

The Keyword Academy

The keyword academy is a paid service run by a couple of entrepreneurs that basically helps new website owners to start and build up a website as well as run it and add SEO, The site gives you the skills you need to source keywords and also how to get them ranking so they move up in google and get you to the top of page 1.

Once the keywords are on the first page of google and are ranking well then this is when you can make some money from your site, The Keyword Academy also helps you design and host your site from the ground up by offering you help with themes, layout and also hosting. It really is quite useful if you are looking into designing your own websites.

Herein lies the problem though, It takes a lot of work!!, Now im not a lazy person and as you can see from the number of hubs I have written I love to write but the amount of work in your first year through TKA is crazy. Now with hub pages because your hub is linked with their site it is automatically given a boost in the rankings which means it is much easier o rank for keywords meaning you don't have to work so hard with your finished work. With TKA you end up doing challenges and such like whereby you write 150,000 words in 8weeks, This is a lot, imagine writing 150 hubs in 2 months!!. And this may not guarantee you top rankings for your keywords.

In one year at TKA I have got 5 websites up and running, Some successful, some not and have made all told around £150, not much for the hours put in, It is rewarding in other ways though, I have learnt new skills and have one site up and running which is being run by me and two other friends who are passionate about the content. I will say this, to do well at TKA you have to like what you are writing about and if you don't then you will never do the required amount of work to do well.

My Return To Hubpages

Unfortunately what I love writing about was never going to pay me enough to lead the comfortable life I dream about!!!. So I am continuing with a couple of the websites but have come back to Hub pages full-time for now to increase my progress. The good thing is with my main site is I have a few people who contribute so it wont go stale while I'm away. Now I'm back I plan for this year to get another 50 or so hubs written and also go back and sort out some of my hubs that have stalled slightly.

I have around 40 hubs that have broken links and need some TLC and also some new hubs that are already formed in my mind or have been jotted down into hub titles. So for those that do know me then look out for my new hubs and for those that don't, follow me and have a read, You may just like what im reading. If anyone wants advice on TKA or any other help with websites then I'm not the best but I will explain it in plain English. Thank you.
