Do you think that you should have the option to delete comments you made on someone else's hub?

You have ten minutes to change your comment, but do you think that you should have the option to later delete a comment if you change your mind?

no ..... I say and probably write a lot of stupid things but I stand by them.  Not having the ability to delete comments and if everyone knows that they may think twice before posting.

    Interesting question!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be interesting or nice even.  I'm trying to recall if I've made any horrific comments here.  I know I used to leave all sorts of lame or mean comments on blogs years ago. . . .but I think I've mostly stayed away from that on Hubpages (crosses fingers - knocks on wood)

There is more to it though - suppose I got made at you, and decided to just be a butt about things, and went and deleted all my comments from your hubs - well, that would start a huge chain reaction - as then your comments in reply would no longer make any sense, and neither would other comments that fell on the thread later that fed off of my deleted comments and your replies to them.

So. . . .I think I'll just say that I am happy enough with the current situation, but I wish that we had a direct "reply" feature so that I could hit "reply" on other person's comments rather than have to use their hub name and address them directly.

Once a comment has been answered by the author of the hub, it would make a total mess out of the comment section if we were able to go back and delete comments we had made.
That's funny just as I hit enter I saw that Wesman Todd pretty much said what I just said. smile

I've thought about this as well.  But I guess the point is that if you are going to leave a comment, think it through before you hit submit!  Good quesiton!

I agree with most of the others here in that this is a good question but I don't think we should be allowed to delete or change comments after the 10 minute edit time.

I agree it would become messy if people could freely do this to comments in other peoples hubs but you do have the option of contacting the owner of the hub in question and asking them to change the staus of your comment from approved to denied. I'd imagine they'd often agree if they understand why you want to do so and it wouldn't adversly affect the flow of their comment section.

you can only ask the hubber in question if he or she will delete your comment for you.

You do get 10 minutes to edit. I usually take the time to reread it and still find mistakes. sigh. or someone else said it better. lol!

I guess not. because we have 5 minutes to edit...I think, else we could format it, recheck and place it when we are absolutely sure.

It will be a total mess. I will make a comment on your hub, you'll reply back to my feed back. In the night, out of the nowhere, I will go out of my mind, will login my PC and delete the comment, and everybody will see you talking to yourself =P

Jokes apart, I think it is better not to have that option.
