   I think it is very important to teach children about gun safety. Every good parent should teach their children firearm safety if they own a gun or have a gun in the house. I would even suggest buying an airsoft BB gun and using that to teach young boys (and girls!) how to hold the gun, where to point it, what not to do, etc.
   
   You might think this is not necessary because you never plan to own a gun, but what if your child happens to find one, or goes to someone else's house where they have them? Better to be on the safe side and teach the kids proper gun safety!

   If you noticed, an adult was right there. They need to learn about gun safety and most who learn about gun safety are much more responsible about gun use than those who are just told to keep their hands off. I am very much in favor of teaching more kids about the proper use of a gun and how to do so responsibly and safely. There would be much less misuse of guns by those that think they are playthings. The gangsta image is one that would be taught against and discouraged as irresponsible. That image is usually taught by their peers instead of a responsible adult.

   I have no problem with teaching children about gun safety. I, of course, live in Texas where hunting and having guns in our homes are common place. My daughters were raised with guns in the home and never once did we ever have an accident. My oldest daughter loves to hunt with her husband. If you teach children how to handle guns they will not be curious about them and want to play with them. When my grand daughter was three, her dad bought her a pink BB gun. Of course, she is not allowed to learn to use it until she is 6.

   I was really surprised when I first saw it. With just the small photo by itself, the smiling kid holding a tactical rifle really jumped out at me. Initially, I thought it was a "hey, guns are cool" photo which seemed inappropriate, especially considering the recent shootings.
   
   As it turns out, that wasn't the intention of the author at all. The hub itself was a pretty good hub about keeping your family safe. Still, I think that photo was a poor choice.

   I think that the idea behind the hub is a good one but the photo was in bad taste. When I saw it, it actually put me off reading the hub.
   
   Most of the people commenting are Americans and Americans are very pro guns. The rest of the world takes a much more conservative view on the matter. Gun safety for children is important if you have guns freely accessible in your home, it is not really relevant if you don’t. That is not to say that children shouldn’t know what a gun is and that it is dangerous.
   
   Personally I am anti guns, anti hunting and generally anti anything that takes away a life of any kind (that includes a chainsaw or an axe that is used to cut trees), so I prefer teach my child love, peace, unity and respect of all living things rather than gun safety. But that’s just me and I respect everyone’s opinion and their right to free choice.
