   What is a HUB, anymore? Please help me understand who I'm sleeping with for tomorrow.
   
   OK, If HP now has "QUESTION" for us to ask questions, and if they have "STATUS" for us to announce that we just scratched out Butt, and if Hubs that do not MAINTAIN a constant reader level (I read here creative writing) being pulled from access by the Great Google, and remanded to 2nd class status, then what does that leave for us to work towards? I may be confused, but it looks like HP wants informational articles that have high "search engine" potential? Yes or No?

   I'm having a little trouble understand the question, but YES, I think that Hubpages is mostly concerned with making money and they do that if we have hubs that a high search engine potential.  I don't think Hubpages necessarily has the writer's best interest at heart.  Unfortunately, they have to make money or the site would falter and disappear.

   I don't know what they really want.  If you look at the front page selections, it's fluff articles on recipes, crafts, and travel. But then it also seems like they want incoherent religious rants and transcripts of the thoughts of mentally unstable people. And yet other days it's clear that people who can construct prose in proper English are out, while non-native speakers who learned English only yesterday are in. What's clear is that for all of HP's supposed "talks with Google" they don't have a clue what Google wants. And if HP doesn't know what Google wants it's no use trying to figure out what HP wants.

      Who's angry? The site used to be a place to make money and now it isn't --  mostly because of the sheer quantity of pages that consist of incoherent rants.  There are better ways and places to make online.

   Writers who have felt considerable frustration over time, who haven't been able to publish works they might have sweated over for months, or even years, and have been unable to have such published by publishing houses, can now get some of the angst out of their systems by placing short essays on Hubpages.    All those potential readers!   Well, maybe...
   
   For me, I've never expected to make money from Hubpages, nor any website for that matter.   There are too many IT experts out there who are far more savvy at how to do this than me.
   
   "What does that leave us to work towards?"   Good question.   I've been quite enjoying myself writing the ocassional Hub and placing it.   After more than three years at it, they're now pushing the 300 mark in numbers.   The satisfaction - slight as it is - is that a lot have people have at least glanced at them; even lightly perused.   I doubt many have read thoroughly.  That would be asking too much.
   
   A writer writes because it's almost an obsession.  Certainly it's a habit.  Oh, and most writers know that it not only informs, possibly persuades and influences others, it clarifies one's own thoughts and feelings.   I guess that's a good a reason as ever to 'keep on keeping on' on Hubpages.

      Great way of saying this! Oringinally, I was searching for a way teens can make money, on blog sent me to this site. Even after I realized I wasn't able to do that because of my age, I decided to write to help others learn a language I was.

   Yeah, but it looks more like the poetry and creative short stories is what gets weeded out the most.  When I do write on this site, I still write about whatever I feel like at the time.  If something goes wrong, I can always transfer the Hub to another website and whatnot.
   If you have several Hubs that ain't featured, just give 'em a quick edit/update and they should be featured in a day or so, but you'll have to keep an eye on your low-traffic Hubs.
   I only have 25 Hubs at the moment, since I don't write that often here as I have other places for that, but I don't have this featured/non-featured problem because I always tinker with the slower traffic Hubs anytime the traffic gets crappy via 7-day stats per individual Hub, and many times it helps boost traffic, etc.  Now, if I had loads of Hubs to manage that wasn't getting much traffic, it would be rather annoying, but even then, I'd probably just move the ones that didn't work for this site...   
   Boy, things sure have changed a lot around here, eh?

   So HubPages is fickle, unlike the rest of the reading world?
   I'm mainly aiming to get my writing out to new audiences, and hopefully get them interested in my other platforms. So far this has been working particularly well for me. I'm still very new here, and only have 13 Hubs, but HubPages is already registering as one of the main streams of traffic to my other blogs.
   So can't really complain.
   Write what you want, HubPages will make their money, and you just make sure you get whatever you need out of the relationship too.
