   Do you ever Google your own hubs?
   
   Have you tried searching for your hubs in Google or another search engine by using keywords? What did you find - where you ranked high or low? And do you use title tuner to tweak your titles to make them more Google friendly?

   I have Googled a lot of mine at one point or another to see how easily searchers can find them using different keywords.  Most are on the second or third page for generic keywords, a few are on the first page.  The closer you match the wording of your title, the closer to the top it appears. 
   
   When people brag about their hubs being on the first page of Google search results, you should take it with a grain of salt because they usually don't say what search terms they're using. For example, I have a hub about the probability of rolling different sums on  three 6-sided dice.  When I use the search phrase "probability sums three 6-sided dice" my hub is result number 4.  But when I use a less specific phrase like "dice probabilities" my hub is not on the first page. 
   
   Of course, people are much more likely to type in the second search phrase than the first. I could still brag that my hub is on the first page of Google --  but it's for a very specific query that fewer people are searching for.
   
   If you want to see how well your article is ranking in search, it's important to test a variety of broad and specific search phrases.

      Good explanation calculus. Reminds me of a hub someone called darkside wrote about useless keyword victories.

      many thanks for your answer! I agree with regards to being able to "manipulate" a first page rating by being too specific - as you mentioned, it's really useful to use several different terms to get a general overview.

   You know its something that I haven't done for some reason. But it is something I am going to make a point of doing. I think Calculus-Geometry has a great answer. I think its worth doing particularly if you can tweak your title or add some more keywords. Also promoting and sharing your hub is important to help with ranking. Great question!

      I have seen where people google their article each time they want to get onto their own page. It sets their SEO higher.

   I have done it a lot of times. Specially when my hubs are not performing well. So, just to see where it stands,I use this method.

   Not only do I Google my hubs, I Google my hub topic before I submit it to see whether it has a chance of being placed in a prominent position.  My prediction isn't always right, but I try.
