Why does the Hub Text Editor not save my formatting when I click save?

I have been trying to get the "preformatted" option to work on my Hub editor for two days now. I paste preformatted text into the text box and can see it in its proper form there. But when I click save, it strips all the formatting and saves it as "paragraph" instead.
I NEED to keep the formatting and have tried every combination I can think of, but the editor just won't work properly. I've even tried other Internet browsers with the same results.
Does anyone know what's happening with the Java App that drives the editor?
    Thanks!

The pre-formatted option can be tricky with some programs.  Some programs will use fonts and or bullets and other things that might not be supported by the editor.  (or by standard browsers in general)

    So some tips.

    1.  If using something like Microsoft Word/Publisher always "Save File As" HTML and then open it and under Tools View Source and Copy & Paste the HTML.  I know you can view the code from inside the prog. but taking the extra steps will ensure the most compatibility.

    2. Keep your pre-formatting basic.  K.I.S.S.  Keep It Simple Stupid.  I am a strong believer of formatting / Bold Headers / Pictures to keep the blog/hub/post lively.  However if you pre-format with to much gloss you may find a lot of what your doing isn't supported and will simply be removed.  You can look at some of my hubs for help with how to maybe style yours.  I use Microsoft Word 2007 very often.

    3.  A long shot you could always make sure your Java is up to date and try re-downloading.  Current version is Version 6 Update 20. Here is Java's website to assist.  Hope you get it up and working!

Should have thought about the font! iTunes had the same problem when pasting lyrics. In the older versions, it would delete lyrics during a sync if the font was wrong. I'll try that today.
I tried HTML, but I thik it had some Java in it so it displayed code and not the proper text. Thank you both!
