Hi all !!! I am a newbie !!! And I am stumped by the whole ad sense thing. Plus when you give them your band info is it safe and secure? That makes me nervous.
Welcome to HubPages. You don't have to give your bank info as you can have a check mailed to your home address. You should get 6 - 10 hubs under your account before applying for Google AdSense. You may want to have a look at the Learning Center to start with.
Here is a link to get you started. http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/1-2- … gs-adsense
You need to sign up with adsense and get your membership number to enter in your profile here. (Best to wait until you have 10 good hubs).
Adsense does a lot of weird things, but fraud or identity theft is not one of them. The are a big, mainstream company and while I might question how competent and efficient they are sometimes, I don't think they are dishonest.
I'm new too and I was wondering what the benefit of waiting until you have about 10 hubs under your belt is. I know there is a good reason I just wonder what it is.

I have posted a few short blogs to Niume and I like the platform with some reservations. One thing is patently obvious to me though is that they are doing a terrific job of helping writers how to write posts correctly...
