Fire Tornado Phenomenon (Complete with Amazing Video)
I thought we often know and heard about this incident. This was natural disaster and it could be happened anytime and anywhere. Tornado is always got attention for us. Especially for the people who live near with tornado, I mean tornado is always happened in this area. The issue of global warming became a hot trend nowadays. Numerous facts prove that our world has experienced an increase in temperature, global climate change, compared with the previous period. This is also a possible caused of the worsening weather conditions in almost all countries in which one effect is the increasing the intensity of tornado compared to previous years. Property and lives have lost caused by tornado.
I thought many hubbers have written about tornado. I just want to remind again as a warning and I try to peel this based on my knowledge. Tornado is a big disaster, that’s why this incident became an idea to make a film. Such as: Twister (1996), Tornado (2005), Tornado Alley (2011), and many more. From these movies we can saw how terrible this disaster, at the same time there were a few people with their courage try to stay in close with tornado. They called storm chaser. They are the number of people who try to investigate or doing a research about tornado. Hopefully they got accuracy information and they can help many people with early warning.
Based on the word term, Tornado comes from Tronada (Spain), Tonare (Latin), and often known as the Twister. From the definition, a tornado can be interpreted as a fast lap of an air column formed from cumuliform cloud that has touched the ground. It usually appears as a funnel cloud (funnel cloud) and is often accompanied by hurricane, heavy rain, lightning or hail. Most tornadoes are caused by a rotating thunder storms with a regular circulation. Most of tornado has average speed about 175 km / h or more than 480 km/h (in the vicinity of the center may reach 100-200 meters / hour), with a height of ± 75 m, the diameter normally ranges from tens to hundreds of meters. Generally occur in the afternoon to evening. Tornadoes can happened anywhere in the world, but in high latitude areas often happened in the spring or summer. United States is the country with high intensity of tornado. The occurrence of tornado is higher than other areas, especially in West-Central America (please give me correction if I wrong with this information).
There are several types of tornado, like:
- Weak tornado. This tornado has very short duration between 1 to 10 minutes or more, most of weak tornado has small size with smallest destruction. The scale generally F0 - F1 and the wind speed about 112 mph. The percentage of deaths resulting from weak tornadoes less than 5% of the total deaths.
- Strong tornado. This tornado lasts for 20 minutes or even more, generally measuring about 10 m with a strong destructive power. The scale generally F2 - F3 and the wind speed about 113-206 mph. These tornadoes caused death cover up to 30%.
- Strong tornado. This tornado last for 20 minutes or even more, generally measuring about 10 m with a strong destructive power. The scale generally F2 - F3 and the wind speed between 113-206 mph. These tornadoes caused death cover up to 30%.
- Violent tornado. This tornado can last long enough to exceed 1 hour and can traverse many miles before disappearing with the destructive power is very strong. The scale generally F4 - F5 and the wind speed over 205 mph. Violent tornado is most widely claimed the death reached 70% of overall mortality.
Dr. T. Theodore Fujita has developed a method to classify the level of damage produced by tornadoes. This method is known as the "Fujita Scale" with a description of damage according to the scale of F0, F1, F3, F4, and F5. Because of the limitation of space, I wouldn't describe all the destructions based on Dr.Fujita classification.
Fire tornado is weird phenomenon
I thought we all knew very well about all tornadoes above. But this time I’ll discussed about fire tornado. This incident was surprising me. I never thought about fire tornado before. The first time I heard this news and saw all pictures from my web browser, I don’t believe this. But after saw the video, I really understand that this is part of tornado and very rare happened in almost of the country in the world. Fire reported happened in Brazil, Budapest (Hungary), and also happened in Japan.
Actually fire tornado was created when warm air on the ground rises, and cool air comes in from above at a perpendicular angle. The rotation of a tornado came from the hot air mixing with the cold air. The trusted source said that not all tornadoes come from the sky. Fire tornado also created when heated air from a fire rises and mixes with strong air currents. This tornado is also whipping through the trees. From this incident causes the air molecules to spin and shape the flame. That’s why we can see this really the same formation like a tornado, but it with the flame shape.
Fire tornado is a rare phenomenon and it’s rarely happen at the same time. This is a very scary combination between tornado and hot fire. Fire tornado is able to roll up anything in its path as well as burn it to ashes. The diameter of the fire core is ranging from 0.3 to 0.9 meters with heights 3 meters or higher. In other circumstances it could be worst and it more devastating. With 3.5 diameters reach hundreds of meters high with the core temperature up to 1000 Celsius degree. No one can stand close to this tornado.
Fire tornado can last for an hour or more because the tornado was only to subside when the vortex core go away. Tornado fire called firenadoes, usually appears when a wild fire appear and easy to spread, but not in urban areas. Please watch the fire tornado experiment below:
Where can we see fire tornado?
A fire tornado appeared in Brazil. This incident happened in August 2010. We can saw this in the Harry Potter movie as the special effect. But this was real happened in Aracatuba, in southern Sao Paulo State (Brazil). A lethal combination of strong dry winds and this is very rare phenomenon which swept through burning fields. From the video we can saw how the fire tornado stopped traffic when bush fires spread across the country, combined with bushes fires and strong, dry winds. This incident was caught on camera as it glided across fields. This tornado happened when a column of warm, rising air is enveloped by flames and caused widespread destruction. There’s no rain for almost three months before this incident. Please enjoy the video below
A very massive fire tornado struck the area of plastics processing in Budapest Hungary on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. The victim and the cause of a fire tornado wasn’t certainty known. “Tornado fire occurs when high levels of heat and turbulent wind mixed together, it formed an air flow vortex," said Jason Forthofer (a mechanical engineer from the U.S. Forest Service in Montana). "This turbulence becomes solid and suck all debris even for flammable gases," he added. "If we can identify conditions that lead the fire occurred, we can predict a tornado of fire. It's a good step, especially to the firefighters, "said Jason. (The information about fire tornado in Budapest was taken from National Geographic Indonesia)
Other information said that tornado fire also happened in the area of Hifukusho-Ato, Tokyo ( Japan) during the earthquake which happened in 1923. This earthquake was also triggering a firestorm and produce giant fire that killed 38,000 people in 15 minutes. Wow.....I can't believe this. Maybe I only seen this on movie.
