For last two decades, I have been reading and listening that Sanskrit is the best language for Computer Programming. An article was first published on this subject in Forbes magazine in 1987. The subject was repeated again and again, especially in Indian Newspapers and magazines. 23 years have been passed, but no one has yet used Sanskrit language for computer Programming.

I never thought that Sanskrit, or any other language of people, let it be language of masses or a language of clergies can be used for computer programming. Because Computer Programs are created with binary code language. It has nothing to do with the languages in which people speak or write. There is no exception for this, may the language be living, or a dead language like Sanskrit.

Whatever we see on the screen of the computer, it is an interpretation of binary code language to our language, in form of text or audio visual.

History of Sanskrit language tells us that the language never had its own script. In ancient time, Sanskritists never believed in writing, and the literature was passed to next generations through oral tradition. Then they started to borrow alphabets of indigenous languages. All the ancient scripts in India were invented by speakers of non-Vedic languages, let it be Indus Script, Bambhi Script, Kharaoshti Script or Nagari Script.

When Sanskritists could not invent a script for their own language, how can they dream to write a script for computer programs?

Then why such type of News we read? The very first thing we should know that everything that appears in media is not a truth. Many News and thoughts we read are big lies, twisted and spread by some people for preserving their own interests. Many things are just a propaganda. I have been working as a Freelance Journalist for many years and know very well how the media twists the things, spread false thoughts in interest of specific people, parties and culture.

Well, the question is why Sanskritists are waiting for so many years for use of Sanskrit as a programming language? The answer is: They are not waiting at all. They know well that they are lying. They just want to make impressions on the minds of people that Sanskrit is a great language.

I have to visit some oriental study institutes for my research work. I have observed that there is a minimum use of computers in such Sanskrit oriented institutes. All so called research work is going on with traditional methods. They have not launched there websites. There is an allergy about modern science and modern technology amongst the Sanskritists. It isjust a joke that people of such tendency watch daydreams like Sanskrit Best for Computers.

So keep in mind that Sanskrit is the best language for Computer Programming is just a lie. A lie like other lies spread by same people we hear again and again- There were airplanes in Vedic age, there were radios and Tele Visions too.

Don't get surprised if they say in near future: All the Computer languages originated from Sanskrit language.

Yes computer will understand only binary system that is 0s and1s. But dont forget that the programinig will be done by using high level languages like English. The meaning of sanskrit is best suitable language for comupter is the program that will needs 100line in English needs only 10 lines in sanskrit. This will drastically reduces the time and increases the computing speed

The computer works on two kinds of languages broadly: Low-level and High-level. The low-level language is a collection of 0s and 1s and is computer readable. The high-level languages use English words, letters, symbols, and numbers and are human readable.

Programmers write programs (instructions for computers) in high-level languages, and then these high-level instructions are translated in low-level languages which are then read by the computers.

Sanskrit can be used as high-level language to write programs. Sanskrit can also be used to give instructions to advanced robots (Artificial Intelligence) because robots are more likely to understand Sanskrit better because Sanskrit is a well programmed natural language.

But, one needs to change the architecture of computers to implement Sanskrit. This requires a lot of people to learn Sanskrit. It also requires huge amounts of money, research and man-power.

So at this point, English is sufficient for computers we use because computers are not advanced robots and don't need be changed. So why waste so much money and time? Hence, you don't see much progress in this area at this time. But if there is a need of another language in the future, Sanskrit will be used first.

I was researching about something that coincidentally directed my to your article "Sanskrit Language for Computer Programming" , which made me curious to know about its author and then i read about you and its really good to hear from your self that you are Jack of all things and master of many things.

Well, let us come to the point. In your own words you are a mega minded genius, so you must also have a sound knowledge of Indian Music. and of course you must be a jack of western music too.

So for your kind information, unlike western music, Indian Classical Music system do not have till date a proper notation system, because Indian Classical music evolved and flourished by an oral tradition with a scintific and psychological expertise,

according to you Mr. Jack, everyone who would say something true about indian classical music just want to make impressions on the minds of people that indian classical music is a great.

Let us talk about sanskrit language for computers:

The largest numbers the Greeks and the Romans used were 106 whereas Hindus used numbers as big as 1053 (i.e 10 to the power of 53) with specific names (Tallakshana) as early as 5000 B.C. during the Vedic period. Even today, the largest used number is Tera: 1012 (10 to the power of 12).

The Word-Numeral System

The word-numeral system was the logical outcome of proceeding by multiples of ten. Thus, in an early system, 60,799 is denoted by the Sanskrit word sastim (60), shsara (thousand), sapta (seven) satani (hundred), navatim (nine ten times) and nava (nine). Such a system presupposes a scientifically based vocabulary of number names in which the principles of addition, subtraction and multiplication are used. It requires:

the naming of the first nine digits (eka, dvi, tri, catur, pancha, sat, sapta, asta, nava);

a second group of nine numbers obtained by multiplying each of the nine digits in 1 by ten (dasa, vimsat, trimsat, catvarimsat, panchasat, sasti, saptati, astiti, navati): and

a group of numbers which are increasing integral powers of 10, starting with 102 (satam sagasara, ayut, niyuta, prayuta, arbuda, nyarbuda, samudra, Madhya, anta, parardha…).

To understand why word numerals persisted in India, even after the Indian numerals became widespread, it is necessary to recognize the importance of the oral mode of preserving and disseminating knowledge. An important characteristic of written texts in India from times immemorial was the sutra style of writing, which presented information in a cryptic form, leaving out details and rationale to be filled in by teachers and commentators. In short pithy sentences, often expressed in verse, the sutras enabled the reader to memorize the content easily.

Binary System of Number Representation

A Mathematician named Pingala developed a system of binary enumeration convertible to decimal numerals. He described the system in his book called Chandahshaastra. The system he described is quite similar to that of Leibnitz, who was born in the 17th century.

A binary number system was used by Pingala (450 BC, if we accept the tradition that he was Panini's brother) to represent meters of songs. The structure of this number system may have helped in the invention of the sign for zero that, took place around 50 BC - 50 AD. Without the binary system, the development of computers would be much harder; and without a sign for zero, mathematics would have languished. It is of course true that the binary number system was independently invented by Leibnitz in 1678, but the fact that the rediscovery had to wait almost 2,000 years only emphasizes the originality of Pingala's idea.
