Who is your favourite character in history and why?

A character from any period who inspires, fascinates, intrigues, or whom you admire greatly. Male or female, or one of each.

Female: Princess Diana, from a teacher to a princess, she shows how much she cares for the world. Not every celebrity would go near to AIDS kids and shabby countries to console the kids. Although she may have some problems with her hubby, she did a good job and I love how she performed well in her responsibilities and her fashion. Simply awesome.
Male: Charles ( Snoopy) He is a damn cute little kid. Although he wears a sulky face, i love the way he cares for his doggy, his friends and the way he talks. Really hook to his character.

Abraham Lincoln.  He is a fascinating subject in the field of Psychology.  I am also a huge fan of Edgar Allan Poe.

Josef Stalin.  If it weren't for his leadership, courage and foresight, I as a European would live under Nazi subjugation. His policies also oversaw the fastest period of economic growth in history, at a time when the western economies had experienced an unparalleled collapse.  It is just a shame he was replaced by the Khrushchevite revisionist traitor group who killed socialism.

No-one has been slandered more in history, nor done so much for the working class.  Whenever someone is vilified by the capitalist media, i take that as a sign they are doing something right, and none are more vilified than Stalin.

Thanks for taking the time to comment and for your opinions.  What about his more ruthless side?

While things like death tallies are so sensationalized, Yeltsin's own archivist stated 30,000 executed in the purges, not the millions dreamed up by political enemies.  But he did what was necessary to modernize, save the revolution and defeat Nazism
