Nikola Tesla invented alternating current i believe.  He has a very interesting history, especially in his relations with Edison. I'm not sure if you are really asking "what is a biography of Tesla", but it would be a good read as there is a bit of an aura of mystery that has grown around him, there are some good Hubs about him if you research it.

Nikola Tesla was born in Europe in 1856. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1943 to work for Thomas Edison. He died in 1943. He was an electrical engineer, a mechanical engineer and a physicist. He greatest achievement, the way I see it, was the invention of (AC current), that is alternating current, the source of electrical current that powers civilization. Of course (DC) current is important, it is produced by batteries as a source of electrical power, but also it is produced by DC generators.
He achieved other things in his life. I have only mentioned the one thing that impressed me the most, that is, alternating current.
    Regards,
    Dr. Haddox

Nikola Tesla was a Hungarian electrical engineer who went over to the US to work for Thomas Edison. He favored alternating current whereas Edison favored direct current because he believed alternating current kills people. For this disagreement, Edison fired Tesla who was hired by Westinghouse. At Westinghouse Tesla developed alternating current that is now benefiting us. Tesla built hydroelectric plants at the Niagara falls without blueprints. His feat became famous because Westinghouse was able to provide the electricity that lighted a world exhibit in the US.

A great man.  If he was well supported financially we may have enjoyed clean green electricity.

He is best known for A.C. and have to prove Edison wrong that A.C. was better than D.C.
