Ali and Christina, a Reason to Watch America's Got Talent

Ali and Christina suffer from Cystic Fibrosis

Ali, 20, and Christina,13, are two singing sisters with a dream of winning America's Got Talent. While thousands of people share this dream and less than a hundred are in the finals, with the actual opportunity to achieve it, Ali and Christina are doing it with a potentially fatal disease. As the finals begin this week on NBC, Ali and Christina begin their quest, on live television, to sing for your votes. While they aspire to win, Ali and Christina are delivering a message; nothing can keep you from your dreams if your willing to believe in them.

While everyone on these reality shows, these days, seems to have a sad or heart warming story Ali and Christina are the real deal, because they suffer from cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary disease that affects the lungs and digestive system and can often lead to death at a young age. The average lifespan of someone with cystic fibrosis is the mid to late thirties. Even though the two were told they could never sing they're belting out songs that mean something to them and should inspire us, Miley Cyrus's The Climb for example. Ali has stated that pursuing their dreams give them hope and keep them from dwelling on their disease. We should all keep that in mind when something trivial upends our lives and we utilize it as an excuse to take a step back rather than pushing forward.

Howie Mandel is a judge on America's Got Talent and said that he wanted everything in the world that they wanted and I couldn't agree more. I hope that you have the chance to watch Ali and Christina as the live finals begin this week and then make the effort to vote for them because they epitomize the human spirit and what it can truly accomplish.

America's Got Talents live finals begin this week on Tuesday and Wednesday on NBC.
