Love Happens Movie Review (2009 Movie)

LOVE HAPPENS MOVIE REVIEW

Love Happens the movie (2009) is a touching movie that focuses on key movie characters Burke Ryan played by actor Aaron Eckhart and Eloise played by actress Jennifer Aniston.

• In the movie Love Happens, Burke Ryan is a motivational speaker and author who is driven by audience response to him.
• In Love Happens the movie, audiences at conferences light up when Burke Ryan enters the room.
• In Love Happens the movie, Burke Ryan feeds off of the energy of his audience. The enthusiasm and high energy of the audience gives Burke Ryan adrenaline during his speeches.
• The focus of his motivational talks is the handling of grief.
• In Love Happens the movie, the movie character Burke Ryan tries to help others cope and frequently provides relatable information about himself and his own grief that he has stuggled with.

In the film plot of Love Happens the movie, Burke Ryan's wife passed away in a car accident 3 years prior and that was his motivation for writing his book. At the same time that he was trying to help others, his book and conferences also became a money making business that he was capitalizing on. His publicist spurred him on.

It's refreshing to see a great actor, Martin Sheen back on screen playing Burke's father-in-law in Love Happens the movie. For his movie character though, something is amiss and he accuses his son-in-law, Burke of lying. He is tired of it and asks him: when is he going to stop lying?

Of course film viewers of Love Happens the movie will now wonder what exactly the lie is. As given away in the Love Happens movie trailer, the lie involves Burke's not having attended his wife's funeral.

He gives the impression that he did attend the funeral when he writes and speaks about it to others but in actuality, he did not attend. That is only part of the lie however.

In Love Happens the movie, the rest of his wife's family wanted to be able to grieve with Burke, but when his wife passed away, Burke could not bring himself to attend the funeral.

Burke became missing in action and unreachable. It turns out that he had his reasons for this.

Burke's story is a very sad one and a lot of information is revealed as the Love Happens movie comes to an end.

• Eloise becomes Burke's new love interest in the movie Love Happens and she also discovers more about him and his problems as the film, Love Happens continues on.
• In the beginning, he is somewhat of an enigma to her. When they have their first date, it is extremely awkward.
• Eventually, he lets her know that it is his first date in 3 years.
• It is not until a bit later that Eloise learns the truth of why it is Burke's first date in 3 years.

Many things about Burke just seem to be a mystery until towards the end of the Love Happens movie when all is revealed.

Meanwhile, he successfully gets others to open up about their troubles and emotions as they deal with their grief. He is helpful and encouraging to everyone.

I rate Love Happens the movie (2009 movie) 3/5 stars ***
