One of the Worst Movie Endings

Updated on June 12, 2008

Disappointed With The Ending to Shrek The Third

Shrek the third starts out as usual with their funny antics with Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey. This time Fiona's father King Harold gets sick and Shrek and Fiona are to be the next king and queen of Far Far Away. Shrek does not want to do this of course, he's perfectly happy and content with his swamp; hello, he's an ogre. There's only one heir to the thrown of the King's family; his nephew, Author. Now, Shrek, Donkey, and Puss in Boots had to set sail on a ship to go find him. As they departed Fiona shouted to Shrek that they were soon to be parents; making his long trip even more stressful.

In a nut shell, Shrek and they gang set off to find Author at sea, while Prince Charming was trying to make a mess of the kingdom of Far Far Away. Prince Charming also captures all the fairy tale friends Gingerbread Man, Pinocchio, Big Bad Wolf, and the 3 Little Pigs. Fiona and the other fairy tale ladies of Far Far Away also get captured. Everything from this point on seems so cliche.

Shrek finds Author (Who of course didn't come so easily, and had to be a pain to make the movie longer) They come back to Far Far Away to see everything messed up and have to save the Kingdom.[Of course] All the villians and towns people gathered to watch a play of Prince Charming slaying a fake Shrek at the kingdom's theatre. But Shrek decides to got to Charming's dressing room to 'get' Charming but gets captured by his men instead. Charming was set up to decapitate the heir to the thrown, Arthor. But Shrek tells him he's just his replacement because he didn't want it himself. Which makes Author mad and Donkey and Puss have to convince him he just did it to save his life. Author gets over it and comes to the theatre to save Shrek just in time, by just making a speech to the entire kingsdom about turning over a new leaf. That's all it took to make all the villains change they're mind. They all lived happily ever after that.

I couldn't believe that ending, especially when I saw that it was setting itself the way it did. The ending was very predictable. I usually enjoy these movies because they usually keep the young and old in mind when making one. I don't understand what the problem was maybe they got bored with it or something. I know it's not something I would watch again. Even if I do own it.
