Synopsis: A young boy struggles to pursue his passion of ballet as his family endures hardships due to the 1984 miner's strike in Northern England.
Fact: Jamie Bell actually endured ridicule and teasing while taking ballet and dance classes while in secondary school. Jamie drew from this while playing Billy.
Trivia: Billy Elliot was originally titled 'Dancer' but due to another film with a similar title in the Cannes Film Festival they had to switch.
Movie Mistake: When Jackie is on the miner bus an egg hits his window. When we see the outside of the bus, the window is clean.
My Take: I effin love this movie! It may be in part that I watched it after I saw a real dog called 'The Legend of Bagger Vance' and needed to get the bad memories out of my brain. Billy Elliot is just another inspirational story about pursuing your dreams no matter what. Ha! I just realized I did two dancing movies this week, oh well.
