Synopsis: Annie is chosen to be Lillian's maid of honor and is thus in charge of the bachelorette party and bridal shower among other things. Being down, out and rather poor Annie finds herself at odds with a fellow bridesmaid, Helen, who uses her money as a way to manipulate the festivities.
Fact: Megan, Melissa McCarthy and Air Marshal Jon, Ben Falcone, are real life husband and wife.
Trivia: Ellie Kemper was actually an acting student of Jon Hamm before he made it big in Hollywood.
Movie Mistake: The garbage that Annie throws on the street, to get Officer Rhode's attention, disappears and reappears during the scene.
My Take: This is the funniest movie of the year, maybe of the past two years. I know this will sound cliche, so please forgive me, but what pushes this movie over the top is that it has heart and you really feel for the characters and the situation. I actually was a best man last year and found myself competing with the cousin who felt slighted, so the situation is very realistic. Kristen Wiig has firmly established herself as a comedic superstar while Melissa McCarthy is amazing and damned near steals the show as Megan. As of writing this Bridesmaids is one of the top movies of the year to date.
