Turf (Alonzo Jones) Audition and Predictions For America's Got Talent 7
Turf (original name Alonzo Jones) is a contortionist dancer with street performance experience. He was homeless for a while but at least has an apartment now. Turf was the last person to audition for the San Francisco episode of America's Got Talent 7.
I think the praise from the judges was a bit over the top and designed for television. But Turf is definitely a good dancer that has potential to go two or three live voting rounds if he makes it past the Las Vegas audition (he most likely will). All three judges raved about him, and his crying will certainly lay the seeds to get some votes. Everyone who cries on this show seems to get them.
My prediction is that Turf will have some success in the public voting rounds but will not win or advance to the finals. This is hardly a difficult prediction to make. Haspop couldn't make it. Hairo Torres had great choreography and told a story with his dancing and still couldn't get past the top 10 to the finale. Dance groups, couples, and solo acts all have a hard time making it to the finale of America's Got Talent, and none has won.
Solo acts and dancing couples probably have a better shot of actually winning (although a solo act will probably need to incorporate backup dancing or other elements to make it). But Turf is a contortionist dancer. That is one of the lowest forms of dancing known to man. It is more like a freak show than dancing. He does have other elements, such as some nice moonwalking. But that is not going to be enough unless he does way more than that audition from San Francisco. Based on what I have seen, Alonzo has no chance of winning the 7th season of America's Got Talent.
