Has anyone else realized that the new Tom and Jerry cartoons lack the detail of the older versions?

If you look at the attention to detail on the older versions they are superior and have more depth to them, the new computer animated versions lack the character of the old generation animations. Surely a modern animation should equal,  if not surpass the standard of the older production method? Is it a case of lowering the cost?

I agree with you. And I note they are cracking down on bootleg versions on youtube.
Another comparison are the movie versions.

It's too expensive to make so much detail in the computer animated versions than it is to actually sit and draw it out. I love the feel and depth that the hand-drawn cartoons used to be. They keep using computer animation and it just doesn't do it for me. There was something particularly unique about the old "Tom and Jerry" when they had the cat and mouse using props out of the background that had bolder colors than the rest of the background. It was predictable, but completely riveting.

Looking at the depth of background detail in the 1960's versions compared to today's offerings on a computer, you can see a marked difference.  I guess they don't make them like they used too!

The new version is obviously different from the older version of Tom & Jerry.

I agree, the best ones are the earliest ones. I love the one where Jerry dances on the table with all the food. The art work in the early episodes is beautiful. My husband, who is a composer lives the music in the early ones too
