Weight Loss Smoothie: Silken Tofu Strawberry Smoothie Recipe
How was it?
Tofu Won't Bite
Ok, so it sounds really gross right? We know tofu can be used in delicious foods in a variety of ways. And we know that tofu can be used as a delicious additive to desserts, barely detectable and yet making the dessert moist and tasty. And of course, we know that smoothies are delicious, they can be fruity, healthy, or chocolaty. Now take these two very different things, silken tofu and smoothies, and combine them!
When not seasoned, tofu is flavorless. So It's ok to put it in your smoothie, it just gives it a silken quality that is absolutely fantastic to the nerves in our mouths! It's like adding protein powder to your drink, except way healthier because tofu is au naturale, whereas protein powder is faux as faux gets.
Why is this a good smoothie for weight loss?
To make this smoothie great for weight loss, all you need to do is replace the "sugar" with stevia and take out the heavy cream. First of all, this smoothie tastes great which makes you think that you're getting a treat, but is much healthier because it doesn't have sugary additives. It's packed with protein, which keeps you full longer. It helps build lean muscles so it's great before or after a workout. This healthy shake is a great breakfast smoothie and serves as a great morning meal.
Benefits of Silken Tofu
Silken Tofu is a great substitute for eggs: it has the right consistency to be made into scrambles or baked into desserts, and can be made to camouflage in a dessert or take over the meal. People get really scared by tofu for several reasons: it looks weird, it has a funny texture, it is thought to be tasteless; people are often forced to eat it when being made to give up meat. For these facts and more, tofu is avoided by many like the plague, but it's a super food unlike any other. You don't have to replace meat with tofu to get its benefits.
