I received a duplicate warning on one of my hubs (the first I have ever had). Apparently a large proportion of the hub appears on other sites. However, pretty much everything on this hub is my own work - I only added some of the product info which was relevant but even then it was not a lot. I always write in my own words without referring to other texts when possible, so how can I find out which parts are not considered original?

The hub is Baby's First Teddy Bear: Organic Teddy Bears (didn't think I could post a link).

Try to change the sentence or add some words before or after the specification which you have used in your hub.
Then try again, hopefully warning will get removed.
      Best of Luck

I suggest that you contact HubPages and ask them to clarify which parts of the hubs that have been considered duplicate:

When I googled the first few lines of your hub (http://www.google.com.au/search?q=%22A+ … p;filter=0)

I found two results - a site called CEAAA has a copy of it supposedly. However when you visit the site or the cache, it is not there.

I'm a bit confused on this, myself.

It's on that CEAAA site alright:  http://www.ceaaa.com/babys-first-teddy-bear/

It looks like one of those scraper sites that's just going around the web stealing other people's content. I would let the HP folks know and then file a DMCA complaint. There are no adverts on the site, which tells me that it's someone who's TRYING to get an account somewhere. That might make it more difficult to get them to take down the info.

    Good luck!

Irohner and Wrylit - thank you for your help, I will look into it and report it. Can't believe it, I only published it a few days ago!

I just looked and saw it there - makes me really angry! Do contact that site as well or not?

The DMCA complaint has to be filed with the host for the offending site. (If the site had Adsense, you could have filed with Google). HubPages only handles DMCA complaints about infringing material published here.

See this thread for a discussion of the various issues:

Thanks Website Examiner - how do you know who the host is though?

Fortunately I haven't had to deal with this myself so I'm sorry but I'm unsure on how you check the host. However here is some more info on the site.

HubPages has a directory, maybe they can assist. You can search the Whois database for information about who is responsible for the domain name in question.

I have not visited the site, so cannot answer your question directly; but any hosting provider should have a DMCA procedure and contact information in place.

Thanks Wrylit and WE - had a quick look at that domain site, still wasn't sure how to check though so I'm going to come back to it a bit later on, got to be out somewhere shortly. Your help is much appreciated smile
