      It's lung cancer that is caused specifically by asbestos.  I used to have an asbestos worker's license, so I know this.

   Mesothelioma is a type of cancer which most commonly grows in the lining of the lungs (pleural mesothelioma), there are other types; peritoneal mesothelioma, affecting the lining of the stomach & a very rare one which affects the cavity surrounding the heart. It is caused by asbestos exposure, mainly & is extremely deadly, there is no cure. My Dad has it but currently has it in remmission. It is a truely horrific disease, for all involved & I find the comments about a worm stupid & insulting.

            It is a cancer that many in the Construction industry have had to deal with. I have family members who have died and suffered with this.
            I have walked off of jobs before and called the City Inspectors when I have found asbestos insulation in ceilings and walls to have it removed professionally.
            I do have my doctor check in examinations, even though my exposure has been very extreme.

   "Mesothelioma" is one of the most abused, well researched keyword in any SEO tool. As for the scientific/medical definition, I don't know anything about it.

   Mesothelioma, more precisely malignant mesothelioma, is a rare form of cancer that develops from the protective lining that covers many of the body's internal organs, the mesothelium. It is usually caused by exposure to asbestos.
   Most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos and glass particles, or they have been exposed to asbestos dust and fiber in other ways. It has also been suggested that washing the clothes of a family member who worked with asbestos or glass can put a person at risk for developing mesothelioma.Unlike lung cancer, there is no association between mesothelioma and smoking, but smoking greatly increases the risk of other asbestos-induced cancers.Those who have been exposed to asbestos often utilize attorneys to collect damages for asbestos-related disease, including mesothelioma.
   The symptoms of mesothelioma include shortness of breath due to pleural effusion (fluid between the lung and the chest wall) or chest wall pain, and general symptoms such as weight loss.
