I've seen so much in this forum regarding Obama. With or without Obama the deficit is the largest issue in the US today. In the face of this truth, how can we afford more spending? Obviously we have to address budget cuts. With budget cuts alone we will only be able to pay the interest on this amount of debt. How can we raise revenue in a depressed economy? Your thoughts?

My wife and I just finished watching the documentaries 'Sicko' and 'Waiting for Superman'. Between the deficit, education, war mongering, the financial system, health care, looming peek oil crisis and population explosion, I think this countries next two or three generations are pretty screwed. It remains to be seen if the third and fourth generations will have a better future.

The government is fine. There is enough money. Fifty-three cents of every tax dollar goes to the maintenance of the over-there military empire, and therein lies the problem. Think they are going to cut that? Think again.

Not that they will not cut defense spending, because they have and will do more. The problem is that they will immediately re-alocating the money. SO...what ever savings is achieved is immediately spent...

What about the $130plus billion we give in corporate welfare every year? Are they going to cut that? Nope. They are more concerned with NPR.

I agree Tex government subsidies should be eliminated especially the one for ethanol but there is also no reason to fund NPR or the arts! Still that's only a drop in the ocean of debt Obama has created!

Don't forget the debt Bush created. And it's pretty easy to show that the financial crisis happened on Bush's watch too. I think Obama is left picking up the pieces and doing the best he can.

Obama is having to deal with a mess that was left behind. However, if this is the best he can do, we need new leadership. It would appear he is making a bad situation worse. I will say this, the congress is the bigger problem.

Lol! Liberals still blame Bush... what did he leave one trillion...  Obama is only in office 2 years and his debt is already 5 trillion!!! If that's the best he can do then its time to replace him!

It is interesting that the money being used to finance the War is being laid at Obama's door, yet the war was already in progress before he took office.

Lady love, get off you pedestal, and come back to reality would you.

This country has been screwed since it's inception, so please.

True, part of that debt, a sizable portion...are the two wars, which Bush kept off of the debt by simply choosing not to count it. Obama owned up and counted it.

Government hasn't properly approached the Economy, much less the Deficit.

Too many agencies, too much spending, too many entitlement programs and just too much B.S.
