Hi Hubbers,
I'm brand new to HubPages, and I'm learning that writing for HubPages may be harder than I thought...
I have been blogging for the last couple years developing a niche on men's grooming, health, fashion, etc.
So, yesterday, I spent almost 6 hours researching and writing an article on men's fashion magazines--taking a complete inventory of every magazine that's possibly available. It's a very useful resource and the ONLY one of its kind on the web.
Men who like to read about fashion want to know what they can subscribe to, yet the info on the net is all over the place, so most men don't have a full understanding of what magazines are even available. I've done all the homework, to the tune of 6 hours, and consolidated everything into the ONLY resource on the web that is this granular.
Today, I get a moderator message that the content "may be uninspired content in heavily saturated topic areas, short or unoriginal content, purely personal content, promote dubious products or offers."
Sadly, the message from the moderator is so scripted with a variety of unrelated suggestions, that it's hard to actually decipher from the moderator what I need to do.
I'm going to assume that someone thinks the content is uninspiring at the moment. Inspiration is generally relative to the reader, and individuals who don't care for the niche I'm writing will be uninspired--and that's not who I'm targeting.
Would the article be better if I wrote descriptions on each of the magazines? I guess I could do that, but I would have concerns about readability given long length and attention spans of the average web reader--tha's not always the most effective writing either.
In short, men are searching for what fashion magazines are available, and I think this article has uniquely met that need.
Any suggestions would be helpful? I'd love for someone else on this forum to read the article without having posting it here, get a duplication error when I try to repost.
Thanks
Jacob
First off, welcome to HubPages!
It looks like your hub has been unpublished, so none of us can see it to comment. You should contact the HP team (team@hubpages.com) to get more specific info from them.
If you would like, use the contact link on my profile page and send me the hub. I'm happy to take a look, but can't promise that I can offer any insight.
Thanks Irohner, I have sent you a copy of my article. Thanks for review!
I THINK they moderated it because it's too short. Outside of the list of publications, you have roughly 200 words -- that's pretty darn short.
IMHO, if you want to make this a really valuable resource, I would give each pub (or at least the ones you recommend) a sentence or two. You can talk about the least/most expensive, best bang for the buck, any ones that cater to the gay community, ones that focus on hair more than, say, fashion, which are only available online/offline, etc. That will not only make it super valuable, but it will also lengthen the hub considerably.
Maybe you can put the top 10 at the top of the list and write a bit about each of those and then simply list the rest?
Sounds good. Those are great suggestions, and I will implement. I just checked my Google Analytics account, and the average length on page was over 8 minutes for the 13 page views I received--so the article definitely has potential.
That would include your own editing time unless you have excluded your IP address from the results.

Then I put them back in. Then it was unfeatured...

I have a question that I hope someone from HP will answer. I have an article that has been up for about 5 years. It has been edited by HP Pro. Drives LOTS of traffic to Paired Life (as in one of your biggest articles). Who was the moderator who thought it was a good idea to turn off my advertising?...
