Why are the politicians so focused on taking away the financial means which most Senior Citizens' have to survive; rent, food, all household expenses comes out of their benefits for a whole month. Health benefits are affected every year but now they want to take what financial means available to the Seniors. They are being penalized by not receiving a "cost of living" increase for the past 2 or 3 years. Some of the seniors can not work even if they had the desire to do so; not only that...not able to find a job to help them survive the "short" comings of their representative they have helped to put into office. Most of our politicians lie to get what they want until they get into office.
I notice that no one is "hollering" about the State senators or the Congressmen giving up a portion of their salaries and benefits to help balance the budget. They all retire with the comforts of knowing they will have a comfortable life after leaving the "political area"
Why meddle with what the ones have work hard and put in the time plus paid taxes for having the funds set aside to have when their "retirement" years come???????
The inhabitants of this world are a very ungrateful group of people........even tho some of the political officers have family (parents, uncles, aunts, or other relatives) who they have heard what turmoil they are experiencing with the threats/plans to make changes to their unsettling situations.
What is this "world of human beings" coming to?????
Politicians let talk about compassion for the aged!
"They are being penalized by not receiving a "cost of living" increase for the past 2 or 3 years."
Isn't it funny that they always received a cost of living adjustment under the Bush administration but President Zero won't give them one.
Heartless deity he is.
Sorry Bub: This administration has nothing to do with SSI "cost of living" increase..........Bush and his party pals wanted to make changes as a total package to SSI and may I ask if you are a "Senior Citizen" who knows how it is from self-experience.
Social Security is socialist - payed for by the community tax payer. For these republicans you are supposed to be on your own and compete in the market place for your existence. Social co-operation
is frowned on. They live in their elite communities. The money would be better spent in the competition of war, which they are never against.
"They are being penalized by not receiving a "cost of living" increase for the past 2 or 3 years."" I am on social security and thus I have to be a socialist. No cost of living increase. But then my costs which are very minimal
live food have not gone up despite reports to the contrary.

Tuesday, they will release that, anyway kharma, when they also get old, LOL
"Starting 10 years from now, in 2021, elderly Americans would receive government help in paying health insurance premiums instead of enrolling in the government-run Medicare program,..." So private for profit health insurance companies have their profits
guaranteed by the help of the government. Tax payer buys private insurance and then pay for it again.
HOORAY to the big insurance companies again, which are bleeding the people dry.
Yes, the BIG insurance companies do benefit but lay blame where blame is due...........our elected officials are not taking the Seniors plight at heart especially when they can profit from the amount of monies to gained from assisting the BIG insurances to get more than their equal share of the pot.............Check out our Congressmen/Senators.......we have to take a long hard look at all of our politicians.........

US - Do you think social security should be cut? This is needed for the budget to be done. Agree or disagree that they should even touch the social security benefits?

Through our working years we all paid for Social Security and Medicare, so why are they considered entitlements when in fact we contributed our own money into the system?
