               intelligence is mainly the ability to run what-if scenarios and wonder in the abstract and effectively communicate the results to targeted medium or other intelligence.

            It's Albert Einstein who said that the true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination. I also like Bill Watterston's quote on intelligence: "The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us." (lol)
            
            Intelligence is a mental capability involving many different elements. Learning from experience is one of these elements.

   It's the ability to process information and make use of it. The greater the amount of information that can be held together at one time, the more opportunities there are to make connections leading to new things and new ideas. This is the essence of creativity and invention.

   Intelligence is mental capacity and it can be demonstrated in many ways.  As a teacher, I see students expressing it not only in their cognitive intelligence, but also in music, art, dance, sports,and ability to socialize with other students, so-called emotional intelligence, as compared to the popular measured IQ.

      Wouldn't every activity their thoughts involve reveal the level of intellect therein?
      
      Humble children tend to learn better, as they are willing to listen rather than teach the teach, so I don't believe lack of brain power is always the cause of lack of intellect within said brain. Perspective also allows or hinders.. [i.e. constant social observations and impact on thoughts.]
      
      I think IQ tests are pretty much not more than a physical memory - storage capability test for the brain.. [that is a very brief 'thought' though so unsure if I'm accurate. lol]

   I was actually wondering whether people's choices talk about their level of intelligence. For instance, we consider Jefferson an intellectual ( a man of great intelligence), yet he owned slaves. I know that it could be argued that the times dictate our choices and it would be anachronistic of us to judge Jefferson's intelligence level from our current standpoint about slavery and racial discrimination. Yet, one would think that emotional intellect is part of intelligence level and if you see enslavement of a live being permissible, than you must have low emotional intellect and thus a low intelligence.

      I personally think we cannot judge everyone who owned slaves.
      
      Jefferson may have treated those he housed very well, and possibly knew if he allowed them to go free they would simply be on the run for their lives and possibly get shot, and highly likely re-captured and sold to another person who was very unkind and inhumane.
      
      I'm certainly not saying this was the case, but I don't believe the cover shouldn't be the basis for the judgement of the book.
      
      We just can't know, and speculating the wrong way could leave untrue and ugly rumors for others to re-tell as truth.

   I agree, yet my question is more general than Jefferson's issue. I want to know if people's choices are part of their intelligence. We can refer to modern day examples: the choice of music ( content-full or not), choice of clothes, choice of words in their everyday speech, one's attitude towards people around him/her etc.

      I would believe that would have to be an absolute yes, at least from my perspective it seems so.
      
      A higher intelligence would choose things differently than lower intelligence simply based on the fact that the higher can manipulate their actions to be more efficient simply based on their complete [ or 'more' complete ] understanding of how things and events work and interact with one another.
      
      With knowledge and understanding comes power.
      
      With power comes greater responsibility.
      
      These are truths.
      
      That is, of course, not to say everyone who is intelligent uses it wisely for reason of selfishness or laziness.
      
      Maybe it is a combination of emotions from surrounding input [i.e. social, personal goal achievement/failures, etc] and intelligence.
      
      A sad person is more likely not to do anything even if intelligent than a happy person who is either intelligent or not so much.
      
      At least that's my thoughts so far on it..
