I could rather use some help

    I have tried in the past to contact Hubpages staff directly as I am sure they prefer that to pushing issues on the forum, but despite several attempts have had no response.
    Here's my issue.
    I published a poem, which contained a few text capsules (all content, no external links etc). Hupages has marked it as a violation, under the reason of too promotional. It says there are either too many external links or too many ad capsules such as Ebay or Amazon - but I haven't placed any of these in the hub. The only thing even remotely promotional is my rss feed. I've used the rss feed on several hubs (some of them shorter than this one which is quite a decent length for a poem) with no problem. What could possibly be a violation in this hub?

      e mail team@hubpages and give them a little while to reply as it is an American holiday- they are usually excellent at sorting out this type of issue

    Got ya, cheers. Didn't realize it's an American holiday. Thanks!

      I think it is Independance Day, I believe it is somewhat popular ! Though for obvious reasons totally ignored this side of the pond

        Hehe. I don't even remember British national holidays never mind prominent international ones. I even struggle with Christmas...

    The rss feed could be the problem, if it is seen by HP as giving unrelated links. Unfortunately, the fact that you are the author of the linked material does not make it "related" in HP's eyes.

    Having the rss feed in other hubs does not mean per se that this is OK. It could simply be a matter that nobody has flagged those other hubs yet, if the rss is indeed the problem in your flagged hub.

      Thanks. That certainly helps. But I don't have control over what the rss feed shows. By offering it as a hub capsule surely Hubpages understand that it is at times going to display unrelated content? Ah well. Thanks for your reply, it does shed light on it.

    There is a way to tailor your rss feeds so that it only includes related topics;

    [http://hubpages.com/author/writeyourwrongs/TOPIC/best/?rss]

    type in the topic where it says topic, so holiday for example, and it will only choose your hubs that have holiday in the keywords.  Don't use the brackets, they are just used to keep that from becoming a link.  I've written a hub about links and rss capsules if you need more help.

      Just done it, works an absolute treat. Now following - you know your link shizzle. Now to see if it's enough to satisfy the HubPages demons
