   According to several reports in the Arabic media, prominent Muslim clerics have begun to call for the demolition of Egypt’s Great Pyramids—or, in the words of Saudi Sheikh Ali bin Said al-Rabi’i, those “symbols of paganism,” which Egypt’s Salafi party has long planned to cover with wax. Most recently, Bahrain’s “Sheikh of Sunni Sheikhs” and President of National Unity, Abd al-Latif al-Mahmoud, called on Egypt’s new president, Muhammad Morsi, to “destroy the Pyramids and accomplish what Amr bin al-As could not.”

                  People in the Islamic world would kill to deal with the West's so-called religious problems.  You minimize the barbarity of the what women, gays and non-muslims have to live on a daily basis by implying that it's all the same.  It also reveals your self-absorption that you have to tie in a horrific Middle Eastern problem with the piddly problems we have with religion here.
                  
                  It's like when you know people who you can't share your problems with because they're too interested in talking about themselves.

                     Obviously you missed the entire point of this thread... It is about some clerics wanting to get rid of the pyramids that brings millions, possibly billions of dollars to their country. I am not debating whether Islam is worse...
                     
                     I am just saying that the government might not bow to what this one cleric wants much as a president of a democracy should not bow to what the religious of their country want.

                        No, Uninvited Writer, I didn't miss the point of this thread.  Your comment that it's the same, as if "Mitt Romney is elected and if he will succumb to religious pressure to pass certain laws and negate others?" isn't the same as a theocracy like Iran or possibly Egypt.  We have a Constitution, Bill of Rights, the whole bit.  They have the Koran.  Even when I was a liberal I never thought the problems we had over hear were the same as the problems of Islamic countries.  There is no comparison.

      And we will continue to subsidize them.  Our tax dollars will bankroll Sharia Law.  The U.S. could stop it if we really wanted to.  I discussed this topic previously on my blog.

   Yeah, I agree with those guys. Too many of those things around. Get rid of the clutter, you will benefit in the long run. If it holds any sentimental value for you or your nation, then take a picture and get rid of the physical object.
